Sleeper / New Slang
Thursday 14th March at New Slang, 9:00pm
The day before their new album is released, Sleeper play at New Slang.
The Modern Age is the first full length album from in over 21 years from the band who were on our walls and cassette players in the late 90s at the height of Brit-pop. They've been to Kingston before - even at Bacchus - but this will be their first sizeable show in Kingston. With a new album of material, plus some classics thrown in, this should be a great time.
The Modern Age is the outward looking sound of a band revitalized and refreshed. Covering subjects from motherhood and social media to personal loss and, inevitably, relationships. The Modern Age retains Sleeper's classic pop sensibilities with a shiny, new, contemporary feel.
"We had no plan to get back together. Sometimes life throws you a massive curve ball. You end up jumping off the cliff, just to see what it feels like." - Singer, Louise Wener
After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of White Lies, The Vaccines, The Charlatans, Maximo Park, The Shins and many more until 2AM.
This gig will run a bit earlier than usual with a curfew of 11:00. Times TBC
New Slang is an over 18s event, and is strict on ID. Please bring photo ID with you on the night, whatever age you are.
Albums+Tickets are available from £15. Alternative options can be found here.
New Slang is held at Pryzm, 154 Clarence St, Kingston upon Thames KT1 1QP
