Sunday (1994)
Sunday 18th May
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm
Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album, Sunday (1994) visits Kingston for an in-store set.Rapidly-rising indie trio Sunday (1994) expand on their filmic universe with the vinyl release of a deluxe version of their self-titled debut EP. The extended special of their highly acclaimed first offering includes three additional songs, including latest single ‘Blossom’. On the release of the now nine-track project, Sunday (1994) said: "We were left speechless by the overwhelming reaction to our debut EP earlier this year. To complete the picture, we’ve added the final brushstrokes, and now present the deluxe edition. Nine songs from a band scattered across the world, all trying to figure out if our lives will become a blockbuster, a cult classic, or maybe something else entirely."The new tracks on the deluxe also include previous single releases ‘Softly’ – the dreamy, jangle-pop track capturing the profound attachment of early romance - and ‘TV Car Chase’, a quintessentially Sunday (1994) offering which encapsulates the band’s signature blend of dark humour and hopeless romanticism. The original, self-titled project had dropped to a rapidly growing fanbase, following acclaimed single offerings which saw the outfit capture the hearts of audiences on both side of the Atlantic. Sunday (1994) emerged in 2024 as a band with something to say about the magic of the mundane, unveiling a collection of songs which evoke the bittersweet nostalgia of 90s romance cinema, encompassing an effortless artistry and quick-witted charm. ‘Tired Boy’, was released as the band’s debut offering, following growing intrigue online and a passionate TikTok following. The track, with its confessional tongue-in-cheek lyricism spilt over sparkling melancholic guitar, was a glistening welcome into the charming world of Sunday (1994). Follow-up single ‘Stained Glass Window’, a declaration of love, was later unveiled, seeped in wistful nostalgia of the golden eras of the 80s and 90s. All eyes on Sunday (1994) into 2025 as they’ll return to the UK for a tour and more-Performance expected to start shortly after time shown.Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of 'Sunday (1994)' from us. Bury Tomorrow
Saturday 17th May
at Pryzm, 7:00pm (14+)
Admission will be via e-ticket. Your e-ticket will be delivered to your email address in time for the show (typically the day before the event). To celebrate the release of the new album Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience, Bury Tomorrow return to Kingston to play at Pryzm. From the depths of uncertainty, through line-up changes and COVID-inspired roadblocks, the arrival of guitarist Ed Hartwell and keyboardist/vocalist Tom Prendergast and the creation of 2023's 'The Seventh Sun' has allowed them to lay out a whole new path of possibilities that felt unavailable before. Now, with an invigorated belief and fresh outlook on what the band can encompass, they present 'Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience', their most fantastically visceral offering to date.Crafted more intimately and intricately than ever before by internalising every aspect of the writing process, with Carl Bown [Sleep Token, Bullet For My Valentine, While She Sleeps] manning production duties for the first time, the result is a profoundly personal, extraordinarily expansive and punishingly grand display of cathartic craftsmanship.Born from a shared sense of frustration in feeling an ever-shifting disconnect from the state of modern society, the band have created an earnest, heart-wrenching and definitive look at the overlapping effects of brutal self-sabotage, crippling anxiety, fierce despondency and the never-ending search for peace and clarity in a world so full of noise. It is a record about division as much as togetherness, an outpouring of personal devastation but a hopeful reminder that we are all navigating it together.-Times TBC but we expect doors at 7:00pm with a stage time of 8:00pmThose aged 14+ can attend unaccompanied. 8 to 13 year olds must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult (18+). No under 8s, sorry.Pryzm, 154 Clarence Street, Kingston Upon Thames (KT1 1QP)

THIRD SET ADDED DUE TO HUGE DEMAND.Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album Spacehopper, Turin Brakes return to Kingston to play an in-store set. With seven top 40 singles, six top 40 albums and over a million record sales worldwide, Turin Brakes return with a brand-new record - Spacehopper out 23rd May via Cooking Vinyl. Produced by the band alongside Grammy-winning Guy Massey (with credits such as Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran and Spiritualized), Spacehopper is their first new music in over three years and marks the 10th studio album from Turin Brakes, a big milestone for a band who released their debut album over 24 years ago - The Mercury Prize nominated The Optimist LP which catapulted them into the mainstream and achieved Gold status in the UK. They are a band that understands the art of longevity and Spacehopper promises to be a worthy edition to a rich and sonically diverse catalogue of albums, finding the South London 4-piece in a reflective mood...“We deliberately went back to Konk Studios where we made The Optimist LP, having stayed away for 25 years,” says Olly Knights. “In some ways to connect to the source but also to be who we are now in that amazing room. It felt like some deep invisible forces were being moved around. The new record is totally its own thing; there are little nods to the debut, but it’s a different beast. It can never be as simple and perfect as the debut, so we didn’t try; we backed ourselves.”“We honestly don’t normally get self-reflective but the whole album 10 thing definitely made us want to play with everything that throws up. The dreams, what worked out, what didn’t, the regrets, the nice surprises... It just seemed like a good moment to admit we’re in on our own legacy in a way.”-In-store Grade A. Performance expected to start shortly after time shown.Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of 'Spacehopper' from us. If there's space on the day for more people, we'll let you know.

Yoshika Colwell
Wednesday 30th July
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm
Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album 'On The Wing', Yoshika Colwell visits Kingston for an in-store set.‘On The Wing’ is the debut album from Yoshika Colwell - a captivating and sophisticated collection of eleven songs that traverse the outer regions of folk, it is a record of acceptance and self-discovery, rooted in solitude and personal healing, from one of the UK’s most exciting new singer-songwriters.Life, for us all, comes in seasons: the bitter frosts and balmy awakenings that herald the literal passing of time, but also the periods of retreat and re-emergence that bookmark our own individual paths along this mortal coil. For Yoshika, the last decade has found her existing at both ends of the spectrum. Following a period of complete dislocation fuelled by a move to a new town, lockdown and a traumatic break-up all striking in quick succession, it would take a stretch of restorative isolation to bring her back to full creative and personal health. Now, however, all of that sadness and pain, acceptance and slow-dawning hope has been channeled into ‘On The Wing’. Speaking about the album, she says:“This album is a bit of a shrine I suppose to all of the pivotal experiences that shaped me during my twenties and it’s also, I feel, a tentative lean towards hopefulness for the future. It is, at its core, an album about acceptance and release, and freedom from old binds. It was an extremely emotional and cathartic record to make. It was a challenge to put all of the things I was scared to say into these songs, to finally let them out of my head without shying away from the ugly or unpalatable emotions, but it felt like the only thing to do.The process felt quite ritualistic, akin to writing down the things you know you need to let go of on a piece of paper and burning it.”-Performance expected to start shortly after time shown.Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of 'On The Wing' from us.
