Just after the release of their second album on our Banquet label, Scholars return to live action. One show, no tour. Combining a unique lyrical worldview with the best bits of new wave, punk and Britpop, they're at turns life-affirming and genuinely touching - and they've honed their knack for a massive chorus. For many bands, performance seems to be an afterthought. For Scholars, it’s everything. A ball of frenetic, unpredictable energy, they hit the sweet spot between tension and entertainment. Venerating the post-punk artistry of Adam and the Ants, The Cardiacs’ schizoid energy, Fugazi's grit and work ethic and Dexys Midnight Runners’ classic songwriting, Scholars do not want to form a partnership with a brand, appear on a reality TV show or do a fashion shoot. Their aim is to write really good songs and play them brilliantly live. 14+ only. 14s to 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The Storm
8/10 in Rock Sound. Six years on from the release of 'This Machine' - one of the Banquet label's biggest-selling releases - there's finally a follow-up from JBC. Since the release of their acclaimed debut, JBC have toured the UK and Europe numerous times, playing with the likes of Less Than Jake, Rancid, The Skints, Reel Big Fish, Neville Staple, Streetlight Manifesto, Big D and The Kids Table, Voodoo Glowskulls and Catch 22, with festival performances at Slam Dunk, Boomtown, Guilfest, Rebellion, Dour and Jera On Air amongst many others. Produced by Larry Hibbitt (Hundred Reasons, Marmozets, Scholars) 'The Storm' finds their ska / reggae sound progressing, with more mature songwriting and incredible musicianship. And they'll still make you dance! http://www.thejbconspiracy.com
