Hopelessly In Love [NAD21]
Limited edition pressing for National Album Day 2021. Limited Blue Colour Vinyl For National Album Day 2021 - Celebrating Women In Music. 2000 Units for UK Affectionately dubbed ‘Queen of Lovers Rock’, Carroll Thompson first took the UK’s music scene by storm in 1980 when her classic single, ‘Simply In Love’ propelled her into country’s reggae chart, where it remained in the Top 10 for over four months. The achievement was repeated the following year with the breathtakingly beautiful follow-up, ‘Hopelessly In Love’, the immense popularity of which spawned the multi-talented performer’s best-selling debut long-player of the same name Reportedly selling in excess of a million albums worldwide, the 10-track album included the aforementioned hits alongside additional new original works that have since become widely regarded as classics of the genre. Recently voted by readers of Mojo magazine as the greatest lovers rock album of all time, the “Hopelessly In Love” LP also demonstrated the breadth of Carroll’s talent, with the singer not only performing and penning all of the material, but also coproducing the entire set. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Trojan Records proudly make this seminal long-player available once more. Remastered and re-presented in its original sleeve, the vinyl version has been pressed on high quality 180g colour vinyl and is further augmented by newly written sleeve notes and rare imagery from Carroll herself, “Hopelessly In Love” finally receives the deluxe treatment its status and profound influence has long since deserved.

Elbow
Giants Of All Sizes
The new full length album from Elbow.
CD + O-Card is a CD with a hard clear plastic O-card sleeve, which when pulled off will leave the CD artwork bare of text.
The National Album Day Edition is very limited, it is the full album but with no breaks so it can only be played as 1 long track / a single body of work.
Guy Garvey describes the album as “an angry, old blue lament which finds its salvation in family, friends, the band and new life.” It is a record that lyrically takes in moments of deep personal loss whilst reflecting its times by confronting head-on the spectres of injustice and division not just in the UK but across the world. It is a record that could only have been made in the 21st Century.
Given such bleak, if ultimately redeemed, subject matter, it is also, perversely, the most relaxed record which elbow have made in some time. On ‘Giants of All Sizes’, each band member extended their usual process of working on demos alone and followed their vision to its conclusion rather than, as Craig Potter puts it, ‘taking the edges off things to find compromise’. In tandem with this, they returned to playing live in the studio, encouraged to experiment with the banks of analogue equipment at Clouds Hill in Northern Germany, giving songs a looser, more live feel.

Dire Straits
The Studio Albums 1978 - 1991 [NAD20]
On 9th October, to coincide with National Album Day 2020, UMC / Virgin will reissue an 8LP box set of all of the studio albums by Dire Straits, a band that straddled the globe with their sophisticated rootsy guitar rock wedded to literate story-telling lyrics. Emerging on the club and pub circuit in 1977, Dire Straits were led by charismatic Geordie singer-songwriter, record producer and composer Mark Knopfler, one of the most successful musicians the UK has ever produced, who is often cited as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Dire Straits' sound defined the late '70s and early '80s with monster hits such as Sultans of Swing, Romeo and Juliet, Money for Nothing and Walk of Life. Dire Straits' 1985 album Brothers in Arms, a global #1 and double Grammy Award winner, is one of the world's best selling albums. After releasing their final album On Every Street in '91, Knopfler called time on Dire Straits in 1995 and set off on a new path as a solo artist. The Studio Albums: 1978-1991 features the albums Dire Straits (1978), Communiqué (1979), Making Movies (1980), Love Over Gold (1982), Brothers in Arms (1985) and On Every Street (1991) - all of which are certified multi-platinum.
