Quirke Acid Beth Inspired by the rhythmic, clattering sounds of the industrial machines that soundtrack his day, Quirke produces a unique blend of acoustic and electronic music. From the frenetic, driving rhythm of 'Break a Mirrored Leg' to the modern classical piano on 'Acid Beth' Josh's sonic world is distinct and immersive; his bold sound felt best represented by one word, his surname: Quirke. Chairlift / John Talabot / Pional / photek / Dan Carey Chairlift at 6:15 Choice cuts from Chairlift's Something album adapted for the club by some of their favourite producers! Appropriately titled the 6.15AMix, Spanish equipo fantástico John Talabot and Pional turn I Belong In Your Arms into a balearica-infused club-closer. A nifty piano line and seductive rhythm take the song on a late night (or rather early morning) trip to the beach, while Caroline's voice is being warped into something from outer space. Photek takes the same track to a whole different place with his powerful jungle interpretation. Martyn respects both the pace and rhythm of Sidewalk Safari, yet exchanges the clean production for a rather more cosmic beat, incorporating many of his signature touches to compliment the sinister "I'm gonna hunt you down" lyric. Dan Carey's Dub Mix of Sidewalk Safari shows a more playful side, while arguably the most intriguing remix of the package is The Field's take on Met Before, recalling his early work it is so warped and layered you may struggle to imagine the original minus the smallest of hints. Chairlift Something After more than 18 months of composition and recording, Brooklyn-based & outer-spaced musical duo Chairlift return with a new album called ‘Something’, their dense and deftly-driven sophomore episode. The album is the follow up to their 2008 Kanine Records debut ‘Does You Inspire You’. Composed in the back room of a rented New York antiques store, it was recorded at the London studio of its producer Dan Carey (The Kills, Hot Chip, La Roux). ‘Something’ comprises eleven tracks, including the recently premiered ‘Sidewalk Safari’ and ‘Amanaemonesia’, which was released on 7-inch in the US only on Chris Taylor’s (Grizzly Bear) label Terrible Records in August. http://www.facebook.com/chairlift Young Turks CD
Creep / Young Turks Days Creep release 'Days' on Limited edition picture disc in a full picture sleeve. Brooklyn duo Creep (producers / DJs Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard) release their debut single "Days" on Young Turks. Featuring guest vocals by the XX's Romy-Madley Croft, days is a ghostly blend of Romy's ethereal voice and Creep's sinister beats, blending tones of goth, shoegaze and R&B to create darkly prophetic and orchestral soundscapes. Remixes on the 12” come from Deadboy and Azari & III. Deadboy turns "Days" into 2-step, dancefloor melancholia with Azari & III turning in a six-minute Chicago house indebted mix. Superb stuff, and very limited! www.myspace.com/wearecreep Young Turks 12"
