Makeness / Adult Jazz Other Life Expected 2nd December Scottish prodcuer Makeness teams up with alt-popsters Adult Jazz for something lectronic, funk and wonderful! Fans of avant-disco will rejoice at the sound, with its loose and un-quantized groove, synth squeaks, flourishes and off-kilter vocal falsetto, it’s the artists but not as you know them and totally addictive. MAKENESS and Adult Jazz let their hair down and follow Arthur Russell’s advice; ‘First Thought, Best Thought’. Warner Bros 12" Pre-Order
Prince Batman Expected in October - more details soon LP reissue of Prince's soundtrack to the 1989 Batman movie Prince's dense, tangled funk meshed flawlessly with film director Tim Burton's dark, gothic vision, and his Batman album and "Batdance" single both shot to the top of the charts. Warner Bros LP Pre-Order
K.D. Lang & The Reclines Absolute Torch and Twang Expected 8th July 140 Gram black vinyl reissue with lyric insert and a bonus 7" single which contains 'Our Day Will Come' (KD Lang with Take 6) and 'Three Cigarettes In An Ashtray' (KD Lang Live from BBC). The album hasn't been out on vinyl for 25 years. This 1989 album was KD Lang's generous farewell to the country music world that had given her the cold shoulder after her stellar collaboration with legendary producer Owen Bradley on 'Shadowland'. Songs such as 'Pulling Back the Reins' - written by Lang with co-producer guitarist Ben Mink--combined classic country and western imagery with more revealingly personal emotions. At the same time, the album maintained a sly sense of humour missing from much of her later work. The covers of Willie Nelson ('Three Days') and Wynn Stewart ('Big Big Love') certainly don't hurt. The Reclines, Lang's band, is notable for the presence of Greg Leisz on steel guitar. Warner Bros 7" | LP Pre-Order
