One of our favourite albums of 2019!
The fourth full length album from Kingston visitors and infectious indie-poppers Two Door Cinema Club.
Recorded in sessions between London and LA with producer Jacknife Lee (U2, REM, The Killers), it’s an LP that takes the familiar and twists it, to startling and stimulating effect. Take the distorted boudoir soul of ‘Think’, or ‘So Many People’, which electronically skews classic Chic-style disco guitar, and the multidimensional lounge pop of ‘Break’ which sounds like an AI trying to write a Beatles song. It all makes for a wide-eyed, culture- encompassing leap forward for the band, a record liable to break, ruin and remould pop in 2019.

The fourth full length album from the awesome Kingston visitors Circa Waves, offering up another dose of their dynamic and anthemic indie-rock driven tunes, following on from 2019's What's It Like Over There?
An album of our times, ‘Sad Happy’ is formed of two diametrically distinctive sides – the first half of the record contains the Happy tracks, the latter the Sad tracks.
Lead single ‘Jacqueline’ is unveiled today as the first taste of ‘Sad Happy’. Listen here. An infectious, Soweto flavoured groove, ‘Jacqueline’ is another bold slice of bright, life-affirming pop from the pen of Kieran Shudall, who is establishing himself as one of Britain’s most prolific young songwriters. With it’s infectious chorus and refrain of ‘Good times are coming around the bend’, Jacqueline is at once instantly recognisable and also another bold sonic leap forward for Circa Waves. It’s a song that’ll sit effortlessly amongst a setlist already brimming with anthems.
‘Sad Happy’ was written and produced in full by Kieran Shudall, and mixed by Grammy winners Dan Grech-Marguerat and Matt Wiggins. Today’s album announcement comes a little over six months after the release of April’s Top Ten Charting UK Album ‘What’s It Like Over There’. The prolific nature of Kierans’ writing, coupled with Circa Waves relentless appetite for playing live and their own label imprint, are cementing the Liverpool four piece’s reputation as one of the UK’s most dynamic and exciting bands.

The seventh full length album from the acclaimed and infectious alternative rockers Maximo Park, following on from 2017's Risk To Exist.
The album arrives as something of an examination, zeroing in on the notion of the self, identity as a band, and that of humanity as a whole. The album’s title nods to the famous Nature vs Nurture debate. Discussing whether change is capable under the influence of time, perspective, environment or if we are destined to be bound by our own genetics, it asks, “who are we, and who do we want to be, and do we have any control over it?”.
“I'm so happy we were able to make this album during lockdown, as it's been a challenging time for everyone. After almost 4 years since Risk To Exist, we wanted to explore new musical territory (for us) without sacrificing our trademark melodic twists and heartfelt lyrics. As always, the passing of time looms large, although the songs contain more affection for the past than before, and there are occasional hints of the fractious, divided time that we live in” – frontman Paul Smith
