Waajeed Detroit Love Vol. 3 For the third instalment of Detroit Love’s acclaimed mix series, none other than Dirt Tech Reck label boss and Slum Village co-founder Waajeed steps up for a 20-track mix paying tribute to the margins of Detroit and beyond. Detroit Love Vol. 3 is out November 15th as a joint release with !K7. Hot on the heels of Carl Craig and Stacey Pullen’s mixes, Waajeed's tells a highly personal tale of the Detroit spirit, of someone living and breathing its culture since a young age. Having grown up to the sounds of Roy Ayers, Kraftwerk and Funkadelic, cultivated his sonic profile alongside J Dilla as part of Slum Village, Waajeed launched his own Dirt Tech Reck label that veers towards more dancefloor-focused tracks. And even though Waajeed’s sound has gone through a multitude of changes over the years, his cautious understanding of the symbiosis between soul and grit has always remained true to its Motor City roots. For the mix he calls upon a number of his most respected contemporaries, forging an authentic blend of genres spanning familiar grooves and a slew of unheard exclusives. From Patrice Scott and Doc Link to LADYMONIX and DJ Rimarkible, Detroit Love V o l. 3 blends the old and the new, the jazzy and the industrial, bound together by their idiosyncratic nods to the city’s legacy. The vinyl release will include an eight-track package featuring many of the new and exclusive tracks from the compilation, including unheard material from Roddy Rod, Damon Bell and Teflon Dons amongst others. D e t r o it L o v e V o l. 3 offers, yet again, a detailed portrait of the sounds and personalities that lend to the city’s rich musical heritage. Planet E CD | LP
Carl Craig Detroit Love Vol. 2 Please note: tracklisting is only detailing the Double LP edition. Detroit Love present the second release on their eponymous imprint – a collaborative venture from Planet E and !K7 which aims to capture the essence of Carl Craig’s beloved event series. Following last year’s inaugural mix from Stacey Pullen, the second entry comes from none other than Carl Craig himself. Across a hazy, funk-driven voyage, he delves into the spirit of his hometown, championing the past and future of the motor city into an expertly curated mix. With a blend of 90s gems and brand new exclusives, Carl’s track selections forge an atemporal vision of quintessential Detroit music. Opening up the mix are two rare, early 90s classics from Ectomorph and Rhythm Is Rhythm, neither of which have been reissued on vinyl for decades, followed swiftly by a 2015 collaboration from Carl Craig and Green Velvet, never before released on vinyl. New material comes in the form of an exclusive C2 edit of DJ Minx, another exclusive from Claude Von Stroke, tracks from TV Lounge affiliates Ataxia and Mister Joshooa and unheard music from Matthew Dear under his new Brain alias, to name a few. Carl Craig Versus Acoustic Versions From techno to to electronic cross-over classical, and now back again – Carl Craig's Versus project continues to morph and evolve with the release of five beatless versions taken from the eponymous album. On the eve of the Carl Craig concert with the Chinake! Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall (which promises to be mythical) InFiné partners with Planet E for the release of 4 / 5 exclusive, purely orchestral, versions. This Versus Beatless EP brings together the classical musical base used in the making of Versus (2017). These pieces "without electronics" give primacy to the orchestral texture of the instruments and to Carl Craig's close work with Les Siècles during the recording sessions at Davoux studio. With this new take on 4 Planet E catalogue classics, Carl Craig and Francesco Tristano transport their listeners into a new time space. Techno is entering concert halls. The European musical tradition pays tribute to the city of Detroit. InFine / Planet E 12"
