Archie And The Instincts
Burning Heart
Archie And The Instincts play poetic and melodic emo/indie-rock akin to Saves The Day and Jimmy Eat World, and recently shot to fame when they won the prestigious XFM Unsigned Competition (previous winners being Athlete and Aqualung). As recognition of this achievement, they received studio time with renowned producer Dave Eringa to record their debut single Burning Heart. This single has been A-listed on XFM in London, and has been no.1 in the stations listeners chart. Their quality musicianship shines through on all the tracks, with an acoustic version of 'Forget Me Not' and the punk-rock fury of 'Instincts' both produced by Hundred Reasons' Larry Hibbitt, and could easily be singles in their own right... The video to the 'Burning Heart' is also included as an enhanced cd. "Imagine Saves The Day fronted by Ash mainman Tim Wheeler, throw in a huge dollop of melody and a chorus to kill for and you have the EP's title-track, a song which, to me, is one of the best British releases of the year so far. Come the summer 'Burning Heart' will be on mix tapes everywhere. It's a feelgood song that is a radio anthem-in-waiting - all delicious vocals and chirpy harmonies. The appeal is simple; this song is all about the singalong hooks and feelgood factor. Harking back to a time when Chris Conley wrote fast, upbeat songs that didn't disappear up his own bum, Archie take their own British slant, some driving guitars and a hook the size of Holland. Throw in Dave Eringa's production and you have a track that will be all over the place in no time at all. But Archie are no one trick pony as the two other efforts prove. 'Forget Me Not' is included in acosutic form and even stripped down it oozes class. The vocals again nod towards early Saves The Day but again there's a huge chorus that will have you singing along quicker than you can say 'emo is evil'. Even the faster 'Instincts' has more power than a Mike Tyson uppercut, not to mention enough energy to keep a small African nation in electricity. The question remains that if Archie are this good, why have I not heard of them before? I guess it doesn't matter - I just hope they are now here to stay. If this is the basis of a future album, I hope it comes sooner rather than later. If you're looking for your new favourite band, you may well have just found it... - Punktastic.com

Gavin Osborn
In The Twee Small Hours
'In The Twee Small Hours' was recorded live over two nights. The aim was to create one of those records you put on when you're padding about the flat at 4:15am, neither awake nor tired but ready for a cup of tea. Musically, Gavin is influenced by Billy Bragg, Ben Folds, The Mountain Goats and Frank Sinatra. This is because he likes funny, whimsical, bitter-sweet, political, twee little songs, but also, he sure loves a showman. 1. how dolphins rescued me from sharks 2. the first recorder playing rock n' roll star 3. soundtrack 4. intro to jamie cook 5. jamie cook 6. platform girl 7. intro to charlie brown 8. charlie brown 9. part of the furniture 10. left side from my right 11. the slightest touch 12. the greatest thing there is 13. intro to 20th century joy 14. 20th century joy http://www.myspace.com/gavinosborn

Jacobs Stories
Fledgling
Jacob's Stories is music made by a bearded singer songwriter named Stuart Lee, best described as semi-electronic indie / post rock. 'Fledgling' is Stuart's debut album, recorded in the Scottish countryside and reflecting the bleak beauty of that environment. Analogue synths, piano and electronic beats meld with lush viola, wrapping around Stuart's extraordinary, other-worldly vocals and immensely personal, heart-wrenching lyrics. The result is fragile, melancholic, uplifting and undeniably beautiful. So far this year, Jacob's Stories have played shows with Cave In and Stuart is about to tour with City And Colour (Dallas Green from Alexisonfire). According to Rock Sound, he "could give the likes of Radiohead a run for their money any day...Lee is destined to be a future star for sure." For fans of Sigur Ros, Hood, Godspeed!
