We Are Scientists / Art Brut WASABI [RSD19] This is an exclusive release for Record Store Day 2019. Any remaining stock will be available online from Saturday 20th April, strictly one per customer. A split 12" from two cracking Kingston visiting bands, Art Brut and We Are Scientists. Back in 2006 Art Brut and We Are Scientists recorded a split 7" together to celebrate a joint US tour, and now - on the er… all important 13th anniversary of it, the two indie juggernauts are back to do something even more awesome for Record Store Day. Named WASABI (We Are Scientists Art Brut International), this tremendous 12" is a living example of how much fun one can have with a record. Fronted with new singles from both bands, the release also contain wonderfully rendered versions of each other's material, some seriously sick covers - and a few long-lost rarities that have never before seen the warming grooves of a delicious vinyl record. Plus, dare we say, an RSD anthem! With sleeve art designed by Eddie Argos himself, and some extra surprises on the download card - this is Art Brut and We Are Scientists at their very best. A must buy (if we do say so ourselves). Lv Alcopop! x Alcopop! Records 12" Pre-Order
Art Brut Wham! Bang! Pow! Let's Rock Out! Here to remind us of our insatiable, adolescent appetite for music, Art Brut are back together. What started as a break-up album and turned into an ‘in-love record’, Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! is a collection of post-punk, poppy bangers that recall the distinctive sound that burst out of the Berlin-based band back in 2005. It’s been seven years since the group’s last LP and sees Argos’ self-referential, sincere narrative shape into poignant reflections of encompassing a youthful heart in a world that perpetually forces us to grow up. Argos was careful to “live a life” before attempting a new album. “I moved to Berlin, I nearly died with Peritonitis. I was in hospital for a bit. I had a son, I had a relationship that broke up. I wrote a comic, a memoir, a musical and had a one man show,” he says. “I don't want to be that band who writes the sort of songs like "I don't like touring, touring is really boring". I think we needed a rest so some stuff could happen to me, to fill me up.” Produced by award-winning folk musician Jim Moray, Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! is Art Brut at their pop band best. Argos recorded his vocals in one or two takes, channeling the sporadic nature of his live performances while hand claps and ad-libbed jokes and howls produce a raw and authentic work. Morphing almost any mundane experience into a hilariously candid anecdote - whether it’s watching hipsters eat falafel on ‘Good Morning Berlin’, planning a better diet after a health scare on ‘Hospital!’ or dodging a train ticket inspector on ‘Schwarzfahrer’- Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! is testament to the frontman’s unconventional approach to finding inspiration in just about anything. Alcopop CD | LP
Happy Accidents Everything But The Here And Now The second full length studio album from the London trio Happy Accidents, delightful and emotive indie-punk-pop that's sure to appeal to the fans of The Front Bottoms, Martha and The Winter Passing. Exploring new territory that includes washes of synths, keys and atmospheric production courtesy of Hookworm’s Matthew “MJ” Johnson (Drenge, Doe, Martha, Honeyblood), they’re also forging ahead into new lyrical pastures that reflect the often turbulent, yet upward trajectory of their experiences as a band and in their personal lives. DZ Deathrays Bloody Lovely The third full length album from the Australian outfit DZ Deathrays. Thrashy and energetic rock with a groovy, dance-punk edge. If you're into the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, Death From Above 1979 and The Dirty Nil will dig this. Bloody Lovely is the DZ Deathrays expanded universe: the perfect amalgamation of all that has come before it, but kicking in the afterburners, and shooting into the stratosphere as we all hold on for dear life. Happy Accidents You Might Be Right Debut album from London indie-punk three-piece Happy Accidents. Fans of Martha and The Fronty Bottoms you need to check these guys out! With sugar-coated choruses and ‘four to the floor’ disco drums, the band’s sonic urgency creates the kind of earworms that will be rattling round your head for months to come – fusing their deep-seated love of 90s punk and indie, whilst still managing to sound as fresh as any of their contemporaries. Quickly making a name for themselves in DIY punk circles, they’ve shared stages with the likes of The Front Bottoms, Martha, Muncie Girls, and countless others… This will be your album of the summer! Various Artists / Alcopop! We grew up on a diet of Jurassic Park and Sensible Soccer (and all we have left is this lousy record label) Expected 11th July One of our favourite labels, Alcopop!, release a compilation to mark 50 releases and 5 years of hard work. Features many Banquet faves including Stagecoach, Johnny Foreigner and The Attika State who have all played shows for us! "Alcopop have released the coolest compilation of all time' - NME Brief biog: Back in 2006, two drunken boys borrowed some money, gambled it on a resurgent Portsmouth to beat Charlton (god bless Lomana LuaLua), and started a record label. Little did they realise that 5 years and 50 releases later, things would still be going this strong! Based on mutual vices, musical passion and an undying respect for all things independent, those two boys shared one goal: to take the best indie pop hits, put them out on wonderful formats (frisbees, menus, maps in bottles, and lush cardboard artwork), and to create a community for people who still believe that physical releases are ace, that music is definitely not dying, and that money always comes second to good ideas, true passion and wonderful tunes. In those five years, the boys have represented at every major UK festival with bands and showcases alike, racked up hundreds of thousands of touring miles, put on shows everywhere from ice cream shops to beaches, ripped off wholesale the Hooch logo (as yet unpunished), worked with their favourite bands of all time, broken stacks of magnificent new talent, sponsored Gretna 2008 FC, watched Cool Runnings a record 937 times, and released "the coolest compilation of all time"(NME). Having worked with a whole host of wonderful artists - including Johnny Foreigner, Stagecoach, Midget, This City, Sam Isaac, Freeze the Atlantic, My First Tooth and more now seems like the right time to recall some of our finest musical moments on an atom powered action, solid god bubblegum, POPTASTIC compilation CD (to write home about). The compilation comes covered in pics of Alcopop bands, fans, artists and dinosaurs (obviously). http://alcopop.wordpress.com/ Alcopop! CD Pre-Order

Give this a listen if you're into the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, Fangclub and Dinosaur Pile-Up. 2017 has been a big year for TIGERCUB, and after emerging triumphant with a huge debut album sending ricochets around the rock world, we’re doing something really special, fresh from packing out Dingwalls, touring with PABH and Royal Blood and playing all the best festivals. Releasing a statement EP, Evolve or Die, this is a manifesto of intent & stylistic pivot for a band determined to build, to transform, to cement their reputation as one of the most innovative, powerful and relevant bands in the UK. The Spook School Could It Be Different? The third full length album from Scottish indie-punks The Spook School. For fans of Diet Cig, U.S. Girls and Martha. “‘Still Alive’ is about no longer being in an abusive relationship. My tendency was to blame myself for not seeing signs or leaving sooner which wasn’t helpful or fair, so I wrote this song to try and force myself out of that mindset. “In a way it’s a pretty angry song, with that anger being directed at people that carry out abusive behaviours towards others. I think there’s a kind of pride in it as well though - a recognition that you had the strength to get through a shitty situation and to do what you needed to do & that you don’t need to feel shame.” ALCOPOP CD | LP
Tubelord Our First American Friends (Reissue) A Kingston institution, Tubelord were special to Banquet (we put on countless shows, watched more elsewhere, and even put out a 7" of theirs). Indie-math-rock from the era of Tellison, Tall Ships, Johnny Foreigner, TTNG and Tangled Hair. It’s been a while, but to celebrate one of the world’s great underappreciated albums, and to do something a bit damn cool – Alcopop! are repressing the debut album by legendary British math-rockers Tubelord. Repressed on transparent yellow vinyl, and a very special version with a little bit of the original at its heart. Yup, we’ve literally taken an original copy of the first run’s test pressing (from 2009), smashed it to dust, and sprinkled the remains into a limited edition run of 200. Please don’t mention how much that would have been worth on discogs! As one BBC reviewer famously put it, “Whatever you want to call that smashing up of songs and then stitching the bits back together, Tubelord do it, and they do it very well indeed! They really did, and now this very quote proved the inspiration for smashing up what had gone before, and stitching it back together via a vinyl re-press. Nice. A note on the 'test-press splatter' variant of the LP: “Whatever you want to call that smashing up of songs and then stitching the bits back together, Tubelord do it, and they do it very well indeed” said the BBC… So when we decided to repress one of the greatest alt albums of a generation, we thought we’d go for broke. Getting a pretty much priceless test pressing from Dave (Tubelord), we did the only acceptable thing, smashing it into many pieces and sending it to our pressing plant who pressed the fragments into the new records Therefore – each of the special pressings (ltd to 250) have a piece of the original vinyl dusted into the discs in splatter form. It may be a repress – but what it contains is from those 2009 glory days - and the tracks haven’t aged a day. Also available on see-thru yellow (also ltd to 250). 500 only ever to be pressed. Thanks to Hassle, BSM and most importantly, Tubelord, for being cool with the plan. ALCOPOP LP

Best Ex Ice Cream Anti Social The new EP from Best Ex, formally known as Candy Hearts, bittersweet and charming indie-pop driven tunes full of sugary melodies. For fans of Girlpool, Rat Boys, Diet Cig and Soccer Mommy. To me, Best Ex is taking everything that Candy Hearts is -- everything that I am -- and giving it a breakup makeover. Only I didn't break up with a lying, good-for-nothing human being, I broke up with my lying, good-for-nothing anxiety. To me, this record is that light at the end of the tunnel I've been trying to find for the last two and a half years. Making it felt like falling and figuring out my wings actually hadn't been clipped like I thought. I'm so happy to have this finally be out there and to have it stand, where it belongs, alongside all of our other songs, which I consider a deep part of who I am. Alcopop CD
Tigercub Abstract Figures In The Dark Debut album from Brighton's Tigercub who've played in town with Royal Blood and The Xcerts. post-grunge influenced indie-rock. This band have been pushing themselves out of their comfort zones sonically on this record. They've been experimenting with drum loops, synthesizers and even a full choir! Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Alex Newport (At The Drive In, Death Cab for Cutie, Melvins, Pissed Jeans) at Brighton Electric Studios and mastered by John Greenham (Death Grips, Weaves), the highly anticipated debut album follows Tigercub’s widely acclaimed EP, Repressed Semantics. The much loved EP was released via VENN Records last year (2015), and lead track, ‘Pictures Of You,’ saw praise from the likes of Annie Mac and Daniel P. Carter on their respective BBC Radio 1 shows, as well as Radio X, Amazing Radio, The Guardian, NME, Crack, DIY and more. Alcopop! CD | LP
