Katie Malco / Alcopop Tearing Ventricles In-stock now. On limited edition red vinyl with postcard inserts (limited to 500) New 12" from former lass-behind-the-counter Katie Malco, with new EP Tearing Ventricles on the A side recorded live and in full over 12 hours, with stunning soaring vocals accompanied by graceful piano parts and backed with her last EP Katie Malco & The Slow Parade on the flip. I’m not sure why i find it quite so affecting, but it’s one of those records that when it’s accidentally turned off before it’s come to it’s natural conclusion, i find it almost physically painful. It’s fragile, it’s vulnerable and it’s really, really fucking sad. Never in any way self indulgent or ever veering towards any clichéd ‘woe is me’ melodrama it resonates with certain memories, times and experiences – not necessairly good or bad ones, just those moments that perhaps defined the place in your life that you’re at right now – but, in places it cuts to the nerve of what it feels like to be doubled over in anguish and temporary hopelessness, and it’s almost overwhelming. There is some incredibly brave songwriting over the five tracks and the affection and empathy you feel towards the voice behind the words after it draws to a close is almost palpable. I could write another paragraph or two about how gloriously lush the record sounds and how making the leap from guitar to piano for this record is a fantastic move for Katie, but that would be missing the point. None of that really matters when the songs are as touchingly personal and delicately crafted as this. - Inner Monologuehttps://www.facebook.com/KatieMalco Alcopop 12"
Dream Nails Dream Nails LP is on 'galaxy (white / green)' coloured vinyl. We've got a limited number of tote-bags to give away free with the LP. The new self-titled record from the awesome garage-punks Dream Nails. Fans of Bikini Kill, The Regrettes, Ramones and Dream Wife should check this out. The band’s singer Janey Starling explains: “For those born beyond the M25, 'chirpse' is London slang for flirting and ‘chirpse degree burns’ is our personal slang for the injuries borne from romantic misadventure. The song is a tribute to the gut-wrenching feeling of checking your phone every 5 minutes to see if your crush has replied.” The band’s drummer Lucy Katz adds “The song started as a joke after a fateful Glastonbury where a couple of band members (who shall forever remain unnamed...) got ghosted by their festival crushes.” ALCOPOP CD | LP
