DJ Soopasoul More Sex Cream (Crooklyn Style) Earlier this summer, mash-up maestro DJ Soopasoul raised our temperatures by layering Wu-Tang Clan vocals over a chunky, funk-fuelled backing track crafted from snippets of James Brown jams. He called it "Sex Cream", and now he's back with more sickly-sweet goodness based around the down-low greatness of the Godfather of Soul. A-side "More Sex Cream (Crooklyn Style)" delivers a similar-sounding JB-inspired beat, this time peppered with rhymes from "Crooklyn", the debut single from Masta Ace, Special Ed and Buckshot's short-lived Crooklyn Dodgers project. It works wonderfully, of course, as does the flipside instrumental version. Bare party-starting fun for funk-loving hip-hop heads! Soopastole 7"
DJ DSK DNA Edits Vol. 4 Two new banging reworks by DJ DSK, these tracks have been reworked from the original stems for a big sound and absolute dance floor dynamite. As usual the DNA Edits get right to the heart of the music it reworks and adds an intro and outro for easy DJ use. In this volume DJ DSK has taken on the classic Donna Summer song creating a big funky-disco remix with beefed up sound and a funky extended outro break. On the flip DJ DSK has reworked the classic INXS hit into a break beat smash with a big sound and of course intro and outro for the DJ to utilise and still contains that great vibe contained in the original song. 7"

Mr Bristow / Mako Stank Soul Edits Vol. 6 Trunk packed with the hot contraband of Stank Soul Edits Vol. 6, Mako & Mr Bristow are barreling down the remix highway yet again, hightailing it first to the Tropics with Stealin' Alright before pulling a u-ey and fishtailing directly north for Stolen Nolan! While Side A chops and re-arranges a funky steel-drum Joe Cocker cover to fit on one side of a 45, Side B converts a northern soul cut from 6/4 to 4/4 time for a new twist on an old classic. As always, expect bass and drums to be stankily tweaked so both cuts are re-vitalised for twenty-first century sets without losing that vintage feel. Breakbeat Paradise 7"
Otaku Gang Life After Death Star (Biggie vs Star Wars ) Star Wars & Notorious B.I.G. mash up! Here are two producers, Richie Branson and Solar Slim, who internalized Biggie rapping “Hit ‘em with the force like Obi” on “Hypnotize” so fully that Life After Death Star presumably serves as the official soundtrack to their worldview. You can almost hear the elevator pitch: Combine one of the most beloved rappers of all time with the most popular movie franchise ever, time it to coincide with a new installment of said franchise, and you’ve got yourself a nerdy artifact of the pop-culture canon, not to mention one helluva T-shirt. If the emboldened creator executes the concept smartly and un-sloppily — well, Luke hit smaller targets with his T-16 back home. LP

Soul Supreme Check the Rhime / Lyrics to Go Jazz runs deep through the music of A Tribe Called Quest. It's as Q-Tip infamously puts it inExcursions, the opening track of their sophomore album:"Don't you know that things go in cycles? The way that Bobby Brown is just ampin' like Michael."A new 7" release by Amsterdam-based, Jerusalem-born keyboardist, DJ & producer Soul Supreme is in its own way a reflection of that. The record features homages to iconic hip-hop tracks "Check The Rhime" & "Lyrics To Go" from a jazz perspective. "It's kinda ironic: these tracks are interpretations, but almosteverythingis different," says Soul Supreme. "The harmony, the melodies, the instruments that are used for each part, the structure… I want to take the listener on a trip to overlook a track they know, but from a different perspective. I try to go 'in and out' of the ATCQ tracks so the listener never knows what's going to happen next. My overall goal is to give existing music my own twist. I don't want to sound like a rehash of something listeners have heard before." Soul Supreme Records 7"
