Stay Inside Viewing The new full length record from Stay Inside. Stay Inside’s sound is a grand, clangorous, romantic take on the emo and post-hardcore of the late-’90s. They write big melodies and howl them out over heavy guitars and oblique rhythm-section churns. There are moments of great serenity on Viewing, and there are also big buildups of serrated catharsis. Sometimes, those moments are the same. Their lyrics tend towards the poetic. Three of the four members of the band sing — one, Chris Lawless, is credited with “screams” rather than “vocals” — and their interplay is extremely cool. No Sleep Records LP Pre-Order
Owen The Avalanche The new full length solo album from Owen, the moniker of Mike Kinsella, known well from his work with the notorious emo-legends American Football. Beautiful and meticulously crafted indie-folk songs with that acclaimed mathy-emo influence. Production for this record was handled by S.Carey! Mike Kinsella’s various musical endeavours should need little introduction. From his early days with Cap’n Jazz right up the triumphant return of American Football, here’s a guy that’s more than made a lasting impression on a scene that while spawning countless imitators there have been few, if any, betters. Now back again and seemingly more prolific than ever, Mike returns with his long running solo project Owen. Easily his most intense album, The Avalanche is also the most beautifully crafted, resulting in nine of the best Owen songs ever penned and an album that’s as heartbreaking as it is magnificent. Vinnie Caruana Live at The Black Heart A double LP live record from Vinnie Caruana playing a career spanning set at The Black Heart in London on 15th December 2019. Playing raw and heartfelt fan favourites, Vinnie showcases tracks off his new EP Aging Frontman amongst old classics from his solo material and his other bands, the much loved The Movielife and I Am The Avalanche. "It was the last show of a life-affirming tour. We took in many a Christmas market, and we drank around 100 Guinness each. Being able to travel around a foreign country, only to see friends, some of whom I met nearly 2 decades ago, will never be something I take for granted. Every show was special in its own way, and this one was just the cherry on top. The crowd didn’t know we were recording, and the result is a very real and organic experience. I fucked up a few songs, but, as you know, that is par for the course. Long live the UK. Long live the connection we share together. Somebody in New York loves you (it’s me). Please enjoy. Peace and love, VC" Big Scary Monsters LP Pre-Order

This Will Destroy You Kitchen A 7" single flexi-disc from the acclaimed instrumental / post-rock titans This Will Destroy You, this is the first song reeased from the Vespertine project, a collaborative concept where the entirety of Chef Jordan Kahn's new CA, restaurant has been custom-scored by Los Angeles' own This Will Destroy You. One of seven pieces written for the building itself (and even the space around it), "Kitchen" is the music that diners first hear as they are greeted by Chef Kahn before dinner service begins for the evening. In composing the music for this interaction, This Will Destroy You's Chris King and Jeremy Galindo sought to convey a warm, hospitable - if not reassuring - tone for listeners that may (or may not) be present elsewhere as they discover and explore the spaces in and around Vespertine's looming architectural monolith for the remainder of their stay. Jeff Rosenstock No Dream Awesome. The fourth full length album from ever-excellent punk rocker Jeff Rosenstock. NO DREAM comes at a time of unparalleled chaos and confusion, division and despair, the depths of which would have been impossible to predict when much of it was being written over the course of the last few years. And yet the record feels prescient, unexpectedly and uniquely suited for this moment. Newly settled in Los Angeles after a lifetime on the East Coast (namely Brooklyn by way of Long Island), Rosenstock recorded NO DREAM with Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Hard Girls, Joyce Manor) at Oakland’s Atomic Garden, and even took on mixing duties alongside Shirley for the first time. Opting to stay off the computer “even more than usual” and record to tape with outboard gear, the result is a lived-in sound that gives each song its own individual voice and organic energy. After building a cult following with the acerbic ska-punk of the Arrogant Sons of Bitches and DIY heroics of Bomb the Music Industry!, Rosenstock’s first proper solo record, 2015’s We Cool?, was a step into uncharted territory, fully untethered from genre and expectation. Followed by 2016’s WORRY. and the surprise New Year’s Day launch of POST- in the early hours of 2018, Rosenstock was facing down that least punk of opportunities: a career playing music. Having taken some time away from his work as a solo artist to recalibrate and reset over the last year, Rosenstock stayed busy playing alongside Mikey Erg, recording and touring with the Bruce Lee Band, releasing a Neil Young covers record with frequent collaborator Laura Stevenson, reissuing two of his own out-of-print early albums, compiling a live album which was recorded during a run of four sold-out shows at Bowery Ballroom, making a 76 page photo book, and scoring over 80 episodes of the Cartoon Network series Craig of the Creek. In fully returning to his own voice, it’s no surprise that Rosenstock’s output has never been more eclectic, reflected across NO DREAM’s 13 songs. Specialist Subject CD | LP Pre-Order
VARSITY Fine Forever Varsity returns with their new album Fine Forever, due out this summer on Run For Cover Records. Since the band’s start years ago in Chicago they’ve released two full-length albums - 2015’s self-titled record and Parallel Person in 2018, as well as a number of singles that were catalogued in last year’s compilation The Basement Takes. For their third full-length, Varsity takes their talent for making melodic pop into brand new territory - combining upbeat grooves, talented and varied instrumentation and captivating storytelling. The songs that make up Fine Forever are a collection of narratives - perspective shifts from one character to the next on the album. The first track & lead single “Runaway” reflects on loss and nostalgia for better times, complete with a breathtaking saxophone solo midway through that symbolizes an actual runaway. Songs like “Shaking Hands” and “Sicko World” are told from the viewpoints of outsiders struggling to fit in. Throughout these vignettes, the theme of how people interact with fate appears often, with the recurring desire for things to work out in the end - to be “fine forever” - working as the mission statement of the album.
