Courtney Barnett MTV Unplugged - Live In Melbourne On October 22nd 2019 Courtney Barnett performed a unique and special show at the invitation of MTV in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. The “Unplugged” performance features Barnett as you’ve never heard her before, warm, vulnerable and emotional, performing a stirring set of eight songs to an intimate audience including “Depreston”, “Avant Gardner” and “Sunday Roast”. Joined by her usual band Dave Mudie and Bones Sloane, she also enlisted cellist Lucy Waldron. Barnett made the night even more iconic by inviting some of her favourite musicians to collaborate including legendary songwriter Paul Kelly, angelically voiced New Zealander Marlon Williams and Milk! Records label-mate Evelyn Ida Morris. The performances include covers of Leonard Cohen, Archie Roach and Seeker Lover Keeper as well as a never-before-heard original track from Courtney herself titled "Play It On Repeat". Sum 41 Half Hour of Power Vinyl reissue of the starting point of Sum 41 and their career. Half Hour Of Power came before their huge breakthrough with All Killer No Filler and sees the band with their blend of fun, heavy-metal influenced pop-punk. The first track, "Grab the Devil by the Horns and Fuck Him up the Ass," is a time warp. For a minute and a half the group relives the new wave of British metal and cranks out an Iron Maiden style tune. After a brief trip down memory lane the album quickly morphs into pop punk. The songs are well crafted and the hooks are catchy on "Make No Difference" and "Summer." But in some respects that is problematic, there was a time in the pre-Green Day/Blink 182 years where punk defined itself by not being radio friendly. A good album, but essentially proof that turn of the millennium punk is just as much a corporate rock entity as adult contemporary. - AllMusic Big Rig Records LP Back in Stock!
