Ghostface Killah Ghostfunk Mash-up super producer Max Tannone (responsible for such blended can-you-see-what-he-did-there delights as "Jaydiohead", "Mos Dub", "Dub Kweli", "Doublecheck Your Head") turns his cut and paste attention to Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah. On "Ghostfunk" Tannone blends 10 Ghostface tracks / raps with vintage African funk, high-life, and obscure psych rock. As with his previous outings, the mash-ups work a treat, with both sets of sample sources being of the highest order. Unknown LP
unknown Te Amo Mystery, hand-stamped, house heater business. No nonsense, peaktime power that’s already been doing the damage across the circuit. White Label 12"
unknown Right Place Digwah putting samples in their right place. This time expertly interweaving a timelessly hypnotic vocal from the mind of a master, into an acid laced groover that’s bumping and ethereal in equal measure. Digwah 12"
Late Nite Tuff Guy / Kate Bush Tuff Cut #12 LNTG brings another batch of those supremely executed edits to the table, timeless tracks from the vaults given a fresh feel, extended, reworked and reloved. One side shines a light on a record that has had the resurgence of the century and on the B, two steamy disco belters. Tuff Cut 12"
Opolopo X Machine Right on, right on! The Godfather of Soul gets a fresh feeling of funk courtesy of the main man Opolopo with these two exquisite edits. On one side the extended, on the flip the instrumental, Opolopo’s ready to get up and do his thang, giving a modern twist to this funked up dancefloor bomb. White Label 12"
Beatconductor / Beatconductor & His Famous All Star Orchestra Reworks Volume One Beatconductor brings some disco goodness and stylish 80s reworks to this first volume of Rekworks on an unknown label. The opener is a version of The Beatles's Come Together' that is slow and steady and sublime. There are more freewheeling and textural guitar licked grooves on 'Tenement Funster' while '1969' is another sleazy indie groove and 'Jailbreak' gets low slung and filthy with its rude guitars and pristine drum work. These are sure to bring a different kind of dirty disco vibe to any dance floor. LP
