Blood Youth Tuesday 11th April at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Tickets available from the shop. Just a few days after their debut album is released, Blood Youth make a return visit to perform in the shop. We're fans of Blood Youth, they've been touring and performing at festivals extensively the last year while also writing some punk anthems. They play a ferocious mix of melodic hardcore, full of heavy breakdowns and aggressive vocals with vulnerable and honest lyrics. If you're into the likes of Beartooth, Close Your Eyes, A Day To Remember or While She Sleeps, then you'll get into this. ‘Beyond Repair’ is an unrelenting assault of punch-to-the-gut riffing and Kaya Tarsus’ impassioned vocals that both tear and soar. Brutally heavy yet deftly accessible, the material of Closure showcases its creators’ state of mind, striking a compelling balance between fury and vulnerability. In-store grade B. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of Beyond Repair from us. Past Event

Tinie Tempah Friday 14th April at The Hippodrome Tickets for collection at The Hippodrome on the night of the show. Please bring your order number with you. The day his new album is released, the iconic Tinie Tempah performs a release show at The Hippodrome. The debut album Disc-Overy, showed the beginnings of a genre fusing approach which we know and love him for today. Leading with hits Pass Out, Written In The Stars and Frisky.. he then pushed his craft even further with 2013's Demonstration. Now, Tinie Tempah is now gearing up to release his highly anticipated third album Youth. Musically, much of ‘YOUTH’ finds Tinie reconnecting with his underground roots. So while ‘YOUTH’ is infused with the huge crossover bangers that he’s renowned for – see ‘Girls Like’ (nominated for the BRIT Award for British Single), ‘Mamacita’ and the #1 smash ‘Not Letting Go’ – it’s also the most eclectic album of his career. “I wanted to give a nod to all of the genres of music I heard growing up that made me want to be a rapper,”explains Tinie. “The good thing about being from London is that you hear so many different styles of music, and are exposed to so many different things. I wanted to make an album that felt nostalgic with elements of those big British sounds from different genres, whether that was garage, grime, hip-hop or R&B.” “It’s also about empowering young people to think outside the box,” he continues. “I was just a young boy out of south London who loved music and wanted to see the world and contribute to something that I love and have a passion for. I honestly feel that there is no limit to where you can get in life. I really believe that. Youth is the time where you dream without any limitations or fear. And I wanted to share MY story with the world through MY music.” 9:00pm : Doors 10:00pm : Tinie Tempah If you also want a copy of the new album then combos are available HERE. Oh Wonder / Tender Thursday 29th June at New Slang, 9:00pm Please note: this show has moved to 29th June, existing tickets remain valid. London based alt-pop duo Oh Wonder make their debut visit to New Slang. Infectious songs with a chilled out and breathy electronic-pop vibe, since releasing their DIY debut album in 2015 where they wrote, recorded and released one song each month for a year (plus a couple of extra songs at the end), they've gone on to become somewhat of an international phenomena and it'll be great to have them here to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated follow up album Ultralife. Each successive song reinforces Oh Wonder's individuality and shows the members are talented when it comes to writing their music. The songs are hauntingly beautiful, and the musical chemistry between the two is undeniable. With clean and downtempo pop ballads, this is an album that is worth a listen. - The Ithacan After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of Disclosure, The 1975, Chvrches, Alt-J, Shura, Metronomy and many more until 2AM.
