Demob Happy
Thursday 1st June
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm
To celebrate the release of their new full length album titled 'Divine Machines;, Demob Happy visit Kingston to play an in-store set. From ‘OK Computer’ to ‘Screamadelica’, history has shown that a band’s third album is when shit starts to get real. When, after an introductory debut and a second that tests new waters, the particular alchemy of a group stamps its personality in ways that no other configuration of individuals can do; when the outside voices have been tempered and all that’s left is a perfect cocktail of confidence, skill and momentum. It’s a theory that’s been proven time and time again, and one that Newcastle trio Demob Happy are underlining with ‘Divine Machines’: a third album that harnesses their delicate tightrope of heaviness and melody, sweetness and riffs, and rides it up to the stratosphere. “You need almost insane levels of resilience and belief to be an artist, but we’ve gone out and put in the work over the years,” begins drummer Tom Armstrong as frontman and bassist Matthew Marcantonio affirms: “This isn’t music for pubs or bars anymore, they’re grand songs for grand venues. It’s backwards engineering.” -In-store Grade B.Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of 'Divine Machines' from us. If there's space on the day for more people, we'll let you know!

Lisa O'Neill
Monday 13th February
at Banquet Records, 5:00pm
To celebrate the release of the new album, Lisa O'Neill visits Kingston to play an in-store set.Following 5 BBC Folk Awards nominations and a designation by the Guardian as Folk Album of the Year in 2019, it is fair to say that Lisa O’Neill is one of the most evocative songwriters in contemporary Irish music today. Fresh off 2018’s collection Heard a Long Song Gone for the River Lea imprint, The Wren EP in 2019 and an adaptation of Bob Dylan’s "All the Tired Horses" for the final scene of epic TV drama Peaky Blinders, O’Neill now returns with her latest album, and first for the Rough Trade label, the beautiful, resonant All Of This Is Chance.A raconteur in the truest sense of the word, every story starts somewhere and O’Neill starts this extraordinary collection here on earth, on Irish soil, hands in the land. The album is full of both orchestral masterpieces like the ambitious and cinematic "Old Note", the title track “All Of This Is Chance”, inspired by the great Monaghan writer Patrick Kavanagh's prescient meditation on The Great Hunger as well as stirring meditations on nature, birds, berries, bees, and blood that ring out over a clacking banjo, dusting and devastating all those in its wake. All Of This Is Chance takes Lisa’s inimitable voice to greater heights, or depths, depending on which way you look at it.-In-store Grade BPriority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of All Of This Is Chance from us. If there's space on the day for more people, we'll let you know!Albums will be for collection at the in-store.

Willie J Healey
Monday 28th August
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm
To celebrate the release of his new album titled 'Bunny', Willie J Healey returns to Kingston to play an in-store set.Is Willie J Healey your favourite artists’ favourite artist? You better believe it. Alex Turner, Joe Talbot of IDLES, Jamie T and Orlando Weeks are among those who believe, most having come onboard following the Neil Young-meets-The Beatles-meets Elvis Costello charms of his 2020 album ‘Twin Heavy’. And while Willie has largely been the preserve of those in the know, that’s all about to change. When Florence Welch heard his upcoming album ‘Bunny’ via its producer, her friend Loren Humphrey, as well as through YALA! Records co- founder Felix White, she was sufficiently impressed to invite Willie and his band on this autumn’s Florence + The Machine arena tour. -In-store Grade C.Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of 'Bunny' from us. Admission will be via e-ticket. Your e-ticket will be delivered to your email address in time for the show (typically the day before the event). To celebrate the release of their new album, Sleaford Mods return to Kingston to play at Pryzm.“The album was written during the non-event which was COVID and I’ve just got increasingly angrier with myself and everyone else,” said Williamson. “The energy of it is a lot more aggressive.”Williamson described ‘UK Grim’ as a very natural successor to ‘Spare Ribs’ – an album that he said “still takes me by surprise” due to its success, critical response and Top Five chart placing.“We knew the album was really good, but at six albums in you don’t expect that kind of reception,” he said. “Will this one hit the zeitgeist again? I don’t think so; it’s just us doing our thing on our own again. It hasn’t been carried by anything apart from perhaps the ultra-demise of any kind of reason in government politics. Perhaps in that sense, ‘UK Grim’ might strike a chord with people at their wit’s end, with people having to suffer these fucking idiots.”-Times TBC but we expect doors at 7:00pm with Sleaford Mods on stage at 8:00pm.-Pryzm is 14+ for this show.
