Floating Points
Promises
Indies exclusive LP is on 180g black vinyl. Regular LP is on 140g black vinyl. The highly anticipated collaborative album from the acclaimed Floating Points and Pharoah Sanders, accompanied by The London Symphony Orchestra. - Sam Shepherd (Floating Points): Pharoah... Pharoah Sanders: Huh...? Sam: Were you asleep? I'm sorry... Pharoah: No no... I was listening... and dreaming... and listening to music in my head... Sam: Oh wow... sorry. Pharoah: Many times, people think I might be asleep... but in fact, I am just listening to music in my head. I'm always listening... to the sounds around me... and playing, in my mind... and sometimes I dream. Sam: What were you dreaming about? Pharoah: I'm on a ship. In the ocean. Bears coming around smoking cigars. The bears are singing, ‘We have the music. We have what you're looking for.' I say, ‘Really?' And I was making fish dinners. Shark..Lobster. Got all kinds of fish. And you know, a good pie. Pumpkin pie. You like pumpkin pie? Pharoah: How you like that take, Sam? Sam: It's cool. I think the bit in the middle, where it stops again...I think you can hear...We were both kind of confused. I like it as well because it sounds like two musicians that are trying to guide each other. Pharoah: I think that's it right there. It came out different. It came out good though. Sam: You happy? Pharoah: Yeah, I'm cool with it. Sam: Okay. Yeah, I think you're playing is beautiful.

Visionist
A Call to Arms
Visionist’s first release for Mute is a hypnotic elegy. A Call to Arms is Visionist’s third album release and where previously the artist used his vocals as samples, we hear his singing voice in the form of song and lyric for the first time. Along with the addition of Visionist’s vocals, the album is host to a varied list of collaborators including Haley Fohr (Circuit des Yeux) and Morgan Simpson (Black Midi).
For Visionist (aka Louis Carnell) each album is a chapter in a bigger storyline, and this new album builds upon 2015’s debut, Safe [PAN] and its follow up, Value [2017 / Big Dada Recordings].
Carnell says, “With every project I want to test myself, so with this ethos, I expand the landscape of sound I have created over the years. On A Call to Arms I have furthered my musical direction in terms of collaboration in order to bring new layers of sonics, dynamics, energies and ideas.”

For Those I Love
For Those I Love

The severity of grief often comes across most clearly in art. What is the purpose of art but to depict human emotions for others to understand and empathise with? On his gripping new album For Those I Love, David Balfe offers a highly personalised portrait of love, loss, confusion, nostalgia and pain – that is to say, the Dublin songwriter/producer walks you through the early stages of mourning. Each savage emotion comes across as tangible and real. Balfe makes spoken word music over urbane electronica that takes its cues from alternative hip-hop and various forms of club music.
His heavily accented delivery and penchant for familiar Dublin cadences means writing can only be set in one place, elevating the album among the great modern works set in the city. A project that started out as an ode to friendship was remodeled under a tragic cloud. Balfe conceived of For Those I Love as a solo project when he was still a member of punk band Burnt Out. Its purpose was to capture the tight-knit friendships – that is, the beauty of the relationships that exist between groups of young men that often go unspoken. Particularly, he wanted to depict his connection with best friend and Burnt Out bandmate, the poet Paul Curran. Tragically, Curran died in early 2018. In his grief, Balfe has created an album infused with the love and bond that existed between the pair.
“For Those I Love fights for the underdog… raw and uncompromising electronic music that taps into both deeply personal trauma and wider societal ills for influence” - The Fader
“His debut album as For Those I Love, due early next year, evokes the rave nostalgia of Jamie XX and the urban melancholia of Burial with a pitch black wit.” - VICE
“Balfe will be one of the talents our entire cultural year orients around.” - The Irish TImes
