The Slits Here To Be Heard: The Story Of The Slits Contemporaries of The Clash and Sex Pistols and the grandmothers of the musical movement known as 'Punky Reggae', the film tells the story of the young women pioneers of the mid-70's Punk era from a female point of view and runs from the inception of the group in 1976 to its end in 2010 (coinciding with the death of lead vocalist, Ari Up). It includes interviews with Don Letts (former group manager and punk documentarian), Viv Albertine (guitarist), Ari Up (vocalist), Palmolive (founder/first drummer), Tessa Pollitt (bassist), Bruce Smith (second drummer), Hollie Cook (vocalist/keyboards/percussion), Vivien Goldman (NYU Punk professor), Dennis Bovell (producer of debut album 'Cut'), Paul Cook (Sex Pistols), Gina Birch (The Raincoats), Adrian Sherwood (producer and long-term friend and collaborator) and many more, as well as previously unseen footage and band recordings. 'Here To Be Heard: The Story Of The Slits' is produced by Badgley, via his company Molasses Manifesto and Mark Vennis of Moviehouse Entertainment, while Pledge Music are working with the duo to bring a DVD release of the film direct to the band's loyal and, in many cases, long-time followers. It is the first film project that Pledge have been involved in. Cadiz
Jimmy Eat World Love Never / half heart Hold tight for our pre-order, for now just click the Notify me button! A new 7" from the incredible and highly influential emo-rockers Jimmy Eat World, following on from their 2016 album Integrity Blues which they visited the shop to celebrate its release. The 7" boasts two new tracks, both very reminiscent of older sounds but with a new edge, Love Never crosses between a Bleed American / Chase This Light sound of upbeat rock, whereas the slower and emotive half heart sounds like it'd fit anywhere in the Futures tracklist. If this is a nod towards their next album then we know it'll be ultra special.
Elder Brother Stay Inside The long awaited second full length album from Elder Brother, beautiful indie/emo rock from Kevin Geyer of The Story So Far and Dan Rose of Daybreaker. The album shows refined musicianship and lyricism, with a central theme of drug addiction that has a personal meaning for the band. One half of the duo, Dan Rose says that “Most of the lyrical content on Stay Inside was written on a visit back home for the holidays to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where my parents still live and where I grew up, and where the opioid crisis has a particularly strong hold. There’s even an HBO documentary about it. Heroin use touches everyone in the area. Whether it’s a first hand experience, or it’s your friend, a family member, a girlfriend or boyfriend, a parent, a child, it’s rare to meet someone that doesn’t have their own story. And despite all of that, addiction is still stigmatized.” 1. Greatest Hit 2. No Reason 3. You & Me Forever 4. Sway 5. Unnatural History 6. Weak Days 7. Wish You Were Here 8. I Don't Miss You 9. Battle 10. Earthbound 11. I Don't Think It Stops Pure Noise
