The Academic
Thursday 9th July at Streamed Session, 9:00pm
On the eve of the release of their new EP, the Irish indie heroes The Academic join us for a world exclusive live performance of their new EP titled Acting My Age. Back and playing live together for the first time since lockdown with a special Q&A. This is a strictly limited-numbers event (/300).
When The Rolling Stones handpick you to open up for them at Ireland’s biggest stadium, you know you’re onto a winner. Ireland’s most exciting new export are The Academic; 2020’s Mick Jagger-approved indie-pop princes-in-waiting. A party-starting four-piece, their super-uplifting, hugely melodic guitar-driven sound is the product of a tight-knit gang who’ve been playing together since school, when they first bonded over the sounds of The Strokes and Vampire Weekend.
This is a taut six-song EP, led by the brisk new wave styled single Anything Could Happen, which draws from the stop-start rhythms of Talking Heads and Elvis Costello. With lyrics about those who are “saving all your feelings for Saturday night” and going on benders of the emotional kind, it’s a song about personal growth, friendship and accepting that nobody is perfect.
The tracks were produced by Nick Hodgson, formerly of Kaiser Chiefs, who has since collaborated with Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, and Duran Duran.
9:00pm start (BST)
Access codes will be sent twenty minutes before the event. (Please check your junk / spam folders if they aren't appearing in your inbox).
Please sign in from 8:45pm (and by 8:55pm at the latest).
You'll be checked off as you sign in, so please ensure your screen name matches the name on your order.

Sports Team
Thursday 11th June at Zoom Session, 6:30pm
Celebrating the release of their hugely anticipated debut full length record titled Deep Down Happy, the acclaimed indie-rockers Sports Team return link up on a Banquet zoom session for a live set and a chat about their new album. This is a limited-numbers event (/300).
Sports Team, one of the most raucous, electrifying and chaotic acts in the UK release their debut album Deep Down Happy. The highly anticipated record, is their first release on the legendary Island Records label. Sports Team came up on the back of word of mouth live hype, drawing round the block queues to chaotic early gigs at The Five Bells and Moth Club before releasing any music. Recording their first EP (Winter Nets) in a converted Timberyard in Hammersmith, the band have consistently set themselves apart from the acts they came up playing with, showing an intoxicating ambition, and their debut album Deep Down Happy, delivers on all bold claims, and confirms their place at the head of a group of young guitar acts.
6:30pm start (BST)
Access codes will be sent twenty minutes before the event. (Please check your junk / spam folders if they aren't appearing in your inbox).
Please sign in from 6:15pm (and by 6:25pm at the latest).
