Waxahatchee Cerulean Salt Former P.S. Eliot singer Katie Crutchfield returns with a 2nd album written and recorded at her house in Birmingham US featuring Keith Spencer and Kyle Gilbride of Swearin. It is a collection of minimal acoustic-guitar pop songs that are heart wrenching and honest. She has a way of making dysfunctional relationships sound like something to strive for, as in this line from "Swan Dive": "And we will find a way to be / lonely any chance we get / And I'll keep having dreams about / loveless marriage and regret." Waxahatchee Great Thunder A new EP from Waxahatchee, following on from 2017's wonderful album Out In The Storm. Stunning and sweet songs. "I would say that it is a complete 180 from the last record: super stripped-down, quiet, and with me performing solo, it’s a throwback to how I started. Overall, the EP is a warm, kind of vibey recording.” Merge Records CD | LP
Waxahatchee Out in the Storm Double LP contains a second disc on cloud-white vinyl with demo versions of the tracks. The fourth album from American indie-rock band Waxahatchee, formed by Katie Crutchfield, formally of P.S. Eliot. Melodic, easy-paced, distorted guitars and stunning harmonies throughout with a 90's emo-indie rock influence. Following on from 2015's Ivy Tripp. She played in the shop a while back and it was awesome. For fans of Jimmy Eat World, Adventures, Tigers Jaw. This moment is a perspective we’ve yet to see from Crutchfield: it is a rediscovery of herself, and the realization of a full life she is completely worthy of. “It’s about self-preservation, selfcare, and reclaiming your autonomy,” says Crutchfield. “When you find the things that make you happy, sometimes it’s easier to see things that make you unhappy.” Merge Records CD | LP
Waxahatchee Live at Third Man Records Banquet visitor and dreamy-indie-pop songwriter Katie Crutchfield, AKA Waxahatchee visited Third Man Records and recorded a couple of elegant tracks. The B-side is her original “La Loose”, showcasing her soaring crystal vocal chops a la Anne Briggs, and the A-side is a powerfully stark cover of Lucinda Williams’ “Greenville” that has been a staple of her live set for years. Waxahatchee / Kevin Morby Farewell Transmission b/w Dark Don't Hide It This is an exclusive release for Record Store Day 2018.
