When I Have Fears
When I Have Fears is the debut album from Dublin, Ireland's The Murder Capital. Produced by Flood (PJ Harvey, New Order, Foals) the album features both singles from the band so far, Feeling Fades and Green and Blue, as well as the first studio recording of breakthrough track More Is Less. An exercise in both darkness and light, When I Have Fears only serves to highlight the early ambition in the band's sound. From the post-rock build and breakdowns of the two-part Slowdance, to the tender, bruised confessional of On Twisted Ground and industrial pulse of closer Love, Love, Love, there's a consistent intensity throughout that marks out The Murder Capital as a band arriving fully formed on their debut album.

The sound of a band firing on all cylinders that bristles with energy yet intimate and simultaneously expansive. Eleven songs that don’t hang about in terms of grabbing the listener. There’s a wider, richer perspective animating the Murder Capital’s new set of songs, brought on from the diverse insights the five members were bringing to the creative process, differing worldviews arising from their literal new positions in the world. Drummer Diarmuid Brennan was living in Berlin, bass player Gabriel “g” Paschal Blake was in Letterkenny, guitarist Cathal “pump“ Roper was in Donegal, and guitarist Damien “irv” Tuit and Mcgovern were in London. The album prioritizes urgency, energy, freshness – all baked into the songs from their earliest incarnations, recorded in la with the help of grammy-winning producer John Congleton. -Times TBC but we expect doors at 8:30pm with a stage time of 9:30pmThose aged 14+ can attend unaccompanied. 8 to 13 year olds must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult (18+). Painting by Peter Doyle andndesigned by Aidan Cochrane. The Murder Capital’s first album ‘When I Have Fears’ had all its songs written and recorded within the first 9 months of the band knowing each other. Now, with ‘Gigi’s Recovery’, the band had to learn to navigate their personal relationships through the relationships they harnessed with these new songs. Without knowing what these songs would sound like, the band knew what they wanted them to feel like- and worked backwards from there- “We had this slightly tongue-in-cheek mantra at the near-beginning of writing this record, it was - The evolution will not be compromised. This kept us on a course, even when we didn’t know where we were going”. And that’s exactly how The Murder Capital ended up with an album that is both totally pure and yet completely confident in its direction.-Times TBC but we expect doors at 7:00pm with The Murder Capital on stage at 8:00pm.-Pryzm is 14+ for this show.
