The JB Conspiracy
This Machine
Now available on vinyl HERE
Formerly known as Duff Muffin, THE JB Conspiracy formed 6 years ago in leafy Surrey picked up some instruments, learnt to play them, and fused influences from some of their favourite bands (Less Than Jake, Specials, Catch 22, RX Bandits) with their own style and became the band they are today. Shows and tours with the likes of Slackers, Capdown, Slow Gherkin, Ad7 and Streelight Manifesto saw them polish their live show and have a reputation for a crowd of skankers wherever they went... With serious social/political messages, but also a lot of fun, they now have the recording their potential always promised. this will be 2007's stand-out ska-punk release. Tracklist 1. 'I Beg Your Pardon' is a brand new, previously unreleased demo; you can also grab their Xmas 2008 take on weepy standard 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' originally by Darlene Love. You'll be able to hear 2009's Christmas cover on their myspace from 16th December. more free tracks available at musicglue.com/scholars myspace.com/scholars twitter.com/scholarstheband DOWNLOAD: You missed it! If you have a vague understanding that a guitar is for playing, not for putting stickers on and carrying around the town in hope that you are asked if you are in a band, if you drink mead and don't mind it dribbling on your beard, if you can appreciate the blacksmith and his wife, if you taste vomit in your throat and want to lash out when you see a dumb catwalk model in an AC/DC shirt... That is a lot "IF's" but maybe...JUST MAYBE.. this six minutes plus of men's metal "THE MEADOW" by Sheffield's Black Spiders will be the best six minutes plus of your year so far. Year? The JB Conspiracy
Wednesday 1st November
at Banquet Records, 6:30pm
Just before the release of the 10 year anniversary reissue of their debut album on our Banquet label, The JB Conspiracy play in the shop.
We've been big supporters of this lot ever since they were Duff Muffin and originally released the album back in 2007. A decade later they remain a great live band and one of the best from the ska-punk world.
Since the debut album This Machine came out in in 2007, it's become somewhat legendary in ska punk circles. The JB Conspiracy have toured the UK and Europe numerous times, playing with the likes of Less Than Jake, Rancid, The Skints, Reel Big Fish, Neville Staple, Streetlight Manifesto and plenty more along with festivals across Europe.
In-store Grade C.
Everyone's welcome, but priority will be given to those who order a copy of This Machine from us.

The JB Conspiracy
Thursday 3rd July
at The Fighting Cocks
A double-header of festival warm-ups from two bands we love. The JB Conspiracy are, without doubt, one of the UK's finest ska punk bands. Over the years they've shared stages with the likes of Less Than Jake, Voodoo Glowskulls, Rancid, Big D and Reel Big Fish and late last year we released their ace new album The Storm. The band play the Cocks as a warm up to their appearance at 2000 Trees. If you're after a good time, this is where you wanna be!They're joined by Scholars, ahead of their Sonisphere appearance. Following their excellent debut album Always Lead, Never Follow on our label last year and loads of shows with the likes of Pure Love, letlive, Don Broco, Canterbury and Hundred Reasons, they've spent most of 2014 writing. Come and witness them stepping bleary-eyed into the summer sunshine, armed with chunky riffs, unshakeable hooks and clever dick lyrics. Please note: The Fighting Cocks is an 18+ Venue, VALID PHOTO ID will be required

The HeatWave / Chas Palmer-Williams / Martha / The JB Conspiracy
Sunday 4th September
at Kingston Carnival
Kingston Carnival is one of our favourite days of the year. In association with Kingston Race And Equalities Council, it's a celebration of racial equality and cultural diversity, with a massive street parade and music on various stages throughout the afternoon. Again, we're booking the music on the main stage and have another feel good (and sound good) selection of music. At about 5:30 The Heatwave will really bring the carnival vibes, like few others can. Renowned sets at Notting Hill Carnival and recently at Boomtown set up their slot in The Market Place perfectly, bringing a party mix of reggae, bashment, dancehall, mash-ups, and FUN! Chas Palmer-Williams will be playing just after 4:30. Famed for his decade of being frontman of the unique and brilliant Lightyear, Chas' solo stuff is lyrical genius, family-friendly fun dittes ranging from the complexities of growing up, to life from the perspective of a payphone! Martha are one of UK indie-rock's underground gems. With a message of inclusiveness, their power-pop with 4-way vocals and infectious songs is always welcome in Kingston. They should be on-stage just after 3:30 Guildford-based ska-punks The JB Conspiracy have played in Kingston with Reel Big Fish and The Specials man Neville Staple. This year they're bringing a special "carnival set" to the town centre and we know this will be loads of fun. They should be on stage just after 2:30. We have another to be announced next week. The music kicks off at 1:30 and there's a strict curfew of 7:00pm. It's a free, all-ages event, in The Market Place, in Kingston Town Centre.
