Rest And Be Thankful
in the 'set' you get a signed cd PLUS one of the New Slang 7"s from Stapleton 'Stanza Your Defeats' which are dead limitied The fourth full length album from one of our favourite bands in the world Stapleton! We are so excited about this! We've put out two of their albums and two of their EPs before, as well as a split 10" with Dartz so that shows just how much we love them. This is the first new material since 2005's amazing 'Hug The Coast' album and we really can't wait. Stapleton are simply a stunning band. It seems quite criminal that more people do not know about them. They have been one of the best indie bands around since forming over ten years ago, and pretty much everyone who has come in to contact with their music has been hooked instantly. Cited as influences by the likes of Tellison, Dartz, Johnny Foreigner, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, and The Xcerts, they are an incredibly important part of the British independent music scene. The most important fact you need to know though is that Stapleton have made some of the most incredibly beautiful music in recent years, and continue to do so with this album. This includes a re-recorded version of one of their best songs, 'Chez Chef', and we really can't wait to hear the album! "Long kings of the Glasgow music scene, it's still very surprising they're not much bigger... It's magical at the best of times, enchanting at the worst." - Drowned In Sound 1. From Wood To Ridge 2. On The Enjoyment Of Unpleasant Places
"Glasgow's Stapleton. They're among the best acts in the UK, regardless of genre, and the original, eight-track version of this release (now fleshed-out with the excellent, and very deleted 'Icy You' single) remains a firm favourite of mine to this day. If you're a newcomer to this three-piece, but have a warm, inviting spot in your heart for any band that morphs from Superchunk to Braid through Built To Spill and Pavement, whilst sounding every bit and yet nothing like them, let Stapleton establish a permanent residency. I may have heard standouts 'Esplanade' and 'Our Returning Champion' a hundred times, but this release just serves as a reminder that they are, in fact, timeless. A truly indespensible records, unless you've already got it of course." - Rock Sound Aug 2004 "Stapleton are a bit of an enigma in the British scene, simply because they're an indie band. It's true, ok so they may throw it around a bit, maybe lean a bit over to the likes of Braid with their time changes and clever bits, but it's obvious there is no-one like this. They play beautiful, clever and perfectly judged songs and make great albums. This is one of them, so if you haven't got it yet, then what are you up to?" - Play Dead --> This is the long over-due repress of the second album from Glasgow indie-rockers Stapleton. Originally released in October 2001 on the now defunct Subjugation label, the initial pressing sold out within three months and has been unavailable since. Now re-released by Gravity DIP Records with bonus tracks (all three tracks from previous single 'Icy You' are have been added) and improved art-work / packaging, its now ready for new and old fans alike to re-discover this lost treasure. Playing lo-fi angular indie-rock whilst never forgetting the melodic hooks and with sheer poetry lyrically, their unique and quite special music appeals as much to fans of Snowpatrol and Idlewild as it does to lovers of Modest Mouse and Braid. We Are The Plague
Acclaimed alternative alchemist’s highly-anticipated debut LP. “Striking, black-shrouded songwriting” (Clash). A bold soundtrack to the apocalypse. “We Are The Plague” declares Suzie Stapleton over the anthemic, fuzzed-out bass that opens the acclaimed alternative alchemist’s extraordinary debut album. It is a rallying cry, the defiant call of a generation sold down the river and acutely aware of its own imminent demise. The album centres around Stapleton’s midnight vocal; raw, poetic lyrics; and expressive, unique guitar playing ranging from a light touch similar to Elliot Smith to effects-soaked riffs evoking Sonic Youth or Soundgarden. Backed by band feat members of The Stranglers and Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind, and mixed by Dan Cox (Thurston Moore/Laura Marling). “Suzie has toured with Mick Harvey and Mark Lanegan - it won't be long before they're opening for her.” (Uber Rock) // “Striking, black-shrouded songwriting” (Clash) // “Suzie Stapleton is gonna be huge. You heard it here first.” (Louder Than War)
