Songhoy Blues
Thursday 22nd June at New Slang, 9:00pm
To celebrate the release of their second album Songhoy Blues play upstairs at New Slang.
Following on from the release of their massive breakthrough in 2015 with their debut album Music In Exile, the unique and distinct crossover band return with Resistance. It's brilliant, inspiring and progressive desert-punk / blues with lots of funk elements making appearances with infectious choruses throughout.
Lyrically and sonically, Resistance is a huge leap forward for Songhoy Blues, a musical snapshot of a band at the top of their game. Richer, more eclectic and musically adventurous, it captures a band who, for the last three years, have toured the world and soaked up music far beyond the borders of their native Mali. - Broadwayworld
After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear regular NS tunes from the likes of The last Shadow Puppets, Foals, The Vaccines, Los Campesinos, The Shins and many more until 2AM.
Doors - 9:00pm Songhoy Blues - 9:15pm
If you also want a copy of the new album then combos are available here.
Please Note: The Hippodrome is an 18+ venue. Valid PHOTO ID will be required.
New Slang is held at The Hippodrome, 1 St James Road, Kingston, KT1 2AH
This is the same night as the Ride show that will be taking place downstairs, tickets only get you access to the show that you have paid for.
