The band's most powerful and intimate music thus far, it unpicked a turbulent period in the incredible story of Oh Wonder: here were universal themes (loneliness, inadequacy, resentment, fears for the future) as experienced by one couple in real-time, all blown up in the pandemic. Not many bands can make a break-up album that culminates in them tying the knot - but then again, Oh Wonder have never been like other bands. Coming out of ‘22 Break’ and all the soul-searching that it forced them to do, Josephine and Anthony got married and channelled all this into '22 Make'.-Times TBC but we expect doors at 7pm with Oh Wonder on stage at 8pm.-Pryzm is 14+ for this show. No under 8s, sorry. 8 to 13 year olds must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult (18+). Those aged 14+ can attend unaccompanied. Celebrating the release of their new album, Oh Wonder return to Kingston to play at New Slang.
The third full length album from the ever-charming and delightful indie-poppers is titled No One Else Can Wear Your Crown, sure to contain more of their infectious and up-beat, synth-fuelled tunes.
Oh Wonder are one of the UK’s best-kept secrets. What started with the relatively modest ambition of uploading a track month on Soundcloud quickly transformed into two albums and two tours, more than 1.2 million global adjusted album sales and a hotly anticipated third album ‘No-one Else Can Wear Your Crown’ due for release 7th Feb 2020. First single Hallelujah is a statement of intent and will mark the start of their next chapter no longer DIY pop-stars-in-hiding.
Times TBC but we expect doors at 9:00pm with Oh Wonder on stage at 10:30pm
After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of Tame Impala, Sundara Karma, CHVRCHES, Bombay Bicycle Club and many more until 2AM.
CD/ticket is £17 post-paid, and other formats and combos are available. Albums and tickets will be posted separately, the album is released 7th February 2020. PLEASE NOTE: If you choose Collect In-store as your delivery option your full order will need to be collected from our shop rather than from the venue.

The London based alt-pop duo Oh Wonder make their debut visit to New Slang.
Infectious songs with a chilled out and breathy electronic-pop vibe, since releasing their DIY debut album in 2015 where they wrote, recorded and released one song each month for a year (plus a couple of extra songs at the end), they've gone on to become somewhat of an international phenomena and it'll be great to have them here to celebrate the release of their highly anticipated follow up album Ultralife.
Each successive song reinforces Oh Wonder's individuality and shows the members are talented when it comes to writing their music. The songs are hauntingly beautiful, and the musical chemistry between the two is undeniable. With clean and downtempo pop ballads, this is an album that is worth a listen. - The Ithacan
After the show, it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of Disclosure, The 1975, Chvrches, Alt-J, Shura, Metronomy and many more until 2AM.
Support is coming from North London alternative synth-pop duo Tender.

The fourth full length album from the excellent indie-synth-poppers Oh Wonder, following on from 2020's No One Else Can Wear Your Crown.
‘22 Break’ is a portal into such emotional states, and the life-changing, universal breakup themes (loneliness, inadequacy, resentment, fears for the future) as experienced in real-time by one couple in their garden shed. The production is icy, sparse and filled with bloops and bleeps, like a message from the ether is trying to come through - which, in a way, it was. Amidst the darkness, there finally came a glimmer of hope. With the record written, the couple went away in September 2020 and finally talked. “It was such a weird thing, to make a break-up album with the person you’re breaking up with, while you’re breaking up,” Anthony reflects (the first in history, Josephine thinks). Even weirder, the album that almost ended them proved to be the band’s salvation: ‘22 Break’ is an ultimately cathartic, deeply hopeful project, the light at the end of the tunnel that was Oh Wonder’s quite particular pandemic.
