Nina Simone / DJ Maestro Little Girl Blue Remixed Double LP on 180g 'transparent pink' coloured vinyl. Perhaps not as well known to the general public, Bethlehem Records earned its place in Jazz history with the release of debut albums from artists like Carmen McRae, Chris Connor, Herbie Mann and Johnny Hartman. Besides that, check those early covers - pure art! Bethlehem’s most famous release is the 1958 debut album by Nina Simone, Little Girl Blue. So when DJ Maestro got the chance to remix this album, he was thrilled. Soon he got the idea to ask some of his favourite producers to collaborate, like Mop Mop, Renegades of Jazz, Gramophonedzie, Fab Samperi, The Reflex and Mees Dierdorp. One thing they all had in common: excitement to work with the original recordings from this iconic album. The result is 14 remixes, each with a unique approach to the original song, and all with a contemporary feel. Little Girl Blue Remixed is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on transparent pink vinyl. Music On Vinyl LP

Nina Simone And Piano! LP on 180g 'solid gold' coloured vinyl. Nina Simone said that she’d rather have people remember her for her album Nina Simone And Piano! then for her surprise hit “My Baby Just Cares For Me”. And when you listen to the album, you fully understand why. This is Nina Simone stripped bare; an introspective, intimate album about death, reincarnation, loneliness, and love. The simple piano arrangements and poignant vocals make you creep closer to the music - and the artist - with every listen. Though commercially unsuccessful, this album was released to great critical acclaim in 1969, and it is a true gem in Nina Simone’s body of work. Available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on solid gold vinyl. Music On Vinyl LP
Nina Simone Remixes Three incredible reimaginations of Nina Simone classics from Francois K, Tony Humphries and Coldcut each with their own unique touch and trademark styleweaved within. Francois K kicks off with a sublime deep house rework of ‘Here Comes The Sun’. Reminiscent of Larry Heard’s output, Francois nods to Mr Fingers with a bassline that harks back to those early Chicago classics, coupled with deft mbira touches that create an other-worldy feel to the remix. Celestial waves and singing rides mix with a buzzing top line melody that lay the foundations forSimone’s spiritual voice to hang in the air with a perpetual elegance and grace.A timeless slice of house music that earned Francois’ version a spot on one ofInnervisions acclaimed ‘Secret Weapons’ compilations. Next up, Zanzibar royalty Tony Humphries lays out a bumping remix of ‘Turn Me On’ turning the bluesy soul leanings of the original on their head and flipping it into an uplifting summertime groover. Simone’s words take on adifferent tone with this revitalising rework backed by staccato guitars and chopped up vocal melodies that give aplayful yet soulful character to this slab of sunshine. Rounding off the EP in classic Coldcut style, the duo meld ‘Save Me’ into a chopped, screwed and crunched remix.Lo-fi percussive elements and distorted textures blend with glitching samplesand stuttering sequences that turn Simone into a tripped-out goddess. Anatmospheric piece of electronica but with a harden edge purpose made for the dancefloor. South Street 12"

Nina Simone The Colpix Singles The Colpix singles, many available in their original edits since their first released in the 1960s. A child virtuoso whose piano recitals were local events, Nina Simone started her musical career as a classically trained pianist, strongly rooted in the works of Bach, and became a singer almost by accident. The rest is history. Her recordings, over the next five decades, earned her cult status, critical acclaim and reached the top of the charts on many occasions. Between 1959 and 1964, she was signed to Colpix, who relinquished all creative control to her, including the choice of material. Her voice at her finest, she worked her way through jazz and blues standards like The Work Song and I Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good), folk tunes like Little Liza Jane and Black Is The Color Of My True Love’s Hair, her very own Blackbird and I Want A Little Sugar In My Bowl. This compilation gathers all the singles released by Colpix with their original edits, in mono. 7 of these edits available for the first time since first released. $tateside CD | LP
