Squarewave / Doctor / Mungo's Hi Fi / YT Vital Techniques & Mikey B remixes Hailing from Leeds, the production unit and brothers Vital Techniques are on fire right now, setting light across all genres under the bass music bracket. Along with Mikey B, the trio step up with two of their best remixes to date: this version of Squarewave and Doctor - Police Officer has been literally destroying dance floors worldwide. Mungo's have been championing this track for sometime now and have said they rarely play a gig without someone asking "what is that police officer tune...?" Mungo's Hi Fi / Sugar Minott / Daddy Freddy / Chimpo Ragamuffin Mungo’s Hi Fi held a recording session with Sugar Minott in Glasgow in 2009, not knowing that he would sadly pass away six months later. This record features his raggamuffin vocal which has been complemented with Daddy Freddy at his growling best, which he was proud to record alongside his friend and mentor. The 12” features on one side Mungo’s Hi Fi’s original dubby smasher, which has been one of their most requested tracks since they started playing it out on dubplate. The other side is their first collaboration with Chimpo, who has pulled out all the stops to take the homage to Zinc’s Super Sharp Shooter to the next level. You need this record Scotch Bonnet 12"

Mungo's Hi Fi Serious Time The Scottish soundsystem unleash a great album of modern / digital reggae sounds! Their third double LP arrives hot on the heels of their massive collaborations with Major Lazer and Prince Fatty and showcases all aspects of soundsystem bizness, from Studio One style live brass to digital bass bangers all beautifully threaded together. As well as the fat, clean productions you would expect, the album hosts vocal talent by the ton. With reggae heavyweights Cornel Campbell and Peter Metro rubbing shoulders with Mungo's regulars Mr Williamz, Soom T, Charlie P, YT, Marina P, Solo Banton and Parly B. As if that was not enough there are spectacular guest appearances from Blackout JA, Speng Bond, Pupajim and Warrior Queen. Elen G's cover artwork shows the soundsystem ship tossed on heavy seas with tentacles threatening to take it under – serious times indeed. Scotch Bonnet CD | LP
Mungo's Hi Fi / Marina P Soul Radio Mungo’s Hi Fi cement their long-standing connection with Italian-born, Paris-based singer Marina P, by releasing eagerly awaited concept album Soul Radio. Over six years in the making, Soul Radio is an ambitious representation of the artistic fullness of Marina P, expanding into multiple genres while keeping its roots in rocksteady, reggae and ska. Born in Italy to jazz loving parents, Marina P travelled to Paris to get involved in its music scene. Word reached Mungo’s HiFi of this rising singer with a cool yet emotive tone, and the Scottish sound system and label reached across the Channel to voice her on their industrial strength Belly Ska riddim. The result was 2007’s massive and enduring Divorce à l'Italienne, which was included on Mungo’s 2009 Sound System Champions LP. That track is present on Soul Radio, alongside an inspired rocksteady cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ Soma, plus ska smash, And The Beat Goes SKA!, an adaptation of Sonny and Cher’s And The Beat Goes On. Having worked up a sweat on the ska and rocksteady dancefloor, the album relaxes into a more chilled space, with the haunting Nice To Meet You and the serene Great Wave. These calming, secluded sonic spaces combine Mungo’s forward-thinking production with a retro 90s-meets-50s, triphop-in-a-jazz club nostalgia. Taken as a whole, Soul Radio celebrates Marina P’s depth and versatility as an artist. It’s also the perfect soundtrack to both the night before - and the morning after. Scotch Bonnet Records LP

Mungo's Hi Fi Jump in line / Send Di Water If we have stock left it will be available online from Saturday 23rd April, strictly one per customerLimited edition 7" Jump in the line - rock your body in time - this calypso classic was originally written by Lord Kitchener in the 1940s and later covered by Lord Invader, Lord Flea and Harry Belafonte. It has remained a favourite for a full 80 years, appearing in films such as Beetlejuice where Winona Rider wines out to it. This version comes out of it being an old time classic show stopper for Mungo’s Hi Fi from around 15 years ago, so much so that they rebuilt the track in their own style.
