Released September 24th Lets Dance To Joy Division!!!! Could there be a more classic song than this?? 7" A) Love Will Tear Us Apart, B1) These Days, B2) Love Will Tear Us Apart, CD Love Will Tear Us Apart, Love Will Tear Us Apart '95, Atmosphere Warner Music re-issue the classic Joy Division single 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' on September 24th. The band's complete back catalogue, consisting of all three albums accompanied by previously unreleased live material, is scheduled for release to coincide with the movie 'Control', the biopic of singer Ian Curtis' life which reaches cinema screens on October 5th. The song dealt largely with problems in Curtis' marriage to wife Deborah, but also reflected his general psychological unravelling at that time. 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is one of the few rock songs in which the lyrics genuinely stand up as poetry, the deeply personal and private revelations contrasting with a coldly robotic and metallic musical background that owes much to the vision of producer Martin Hannett, who helped create such a huge, echoing background. 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' was recorded just two months before Ian Curtis committed suicide. It was originally released a month after his death, reaching number 13 in the UK charts in April 1980. The song has received many music accolades over the years, including being acclaimed as the 'Best Single Of All Time' by NME in 2006, and reaching number 179 in Rolling Stone's top 500 songs of all time. As a final and fitting tribute Deborah Curtis had the phrase "Love Will Tear Us Apart" inscribed on Ian Curtis' memorial stone as his epitaph.
