Thursday 20th November
at New Slang
Frank Turner is one of the greatest friends of the shop. Indeed, New Slang was only conceived when we plugged Frank and his guitar into a DJ mixer back in 2006. Since then he’s grown into one of the nation’s real musical treasures, as well as playing Wembley Arena, The Olympics and he’s headlining Brixton again next month as a part of Xfm's Winter Wonderland with other recent Kingston visitors, Catfish And The Bottlemen, The Horrors and To Kill A King. In real Frank Turner style, he’s keeping true to his roots, and coming back to Kingston for what is now an intimate solo show. This Thursday will be his 16th show for Banquet, and his 6th time at New Slang. In support of the new b-sides album "The Third Three Years", we’re gonna hear a bunch of tracks we never normally get to hear live, plus a healthy smattering of live favourites. You can pick up the new b-sides album and a ticket for a steal at A10.Supporting it's the wonderful stylings of Billy The Kid, who's currently on tour with Against Me! and had her fourth, and most recent, album produced by Frank Turner. England Keep My Bones [vinyl]

We've got some free A2 posters of the album artwork up for grabs with this, all you do is pay a little extra for postage and packaging.
Frank Turner's fourth studio album 'England Keep My Bones' is his most commercially successful album to date. Selling over 100K album worldwide it spawned his hit singles 'If Ever I Stray', 'I Stll Believe' and 'Wessex Boy' all three of which are mainstays in his live show tll this day. It was the success of this breakthrough album that lead to Frank headlining and selling out Wembley Arena in April 2012 - and brought him to the atenton of one Mr Danny Boyle who then hand-picked him for the stunning London Olympic Opening Ceremony.Recorded in Crouch End's Church Studios, and released in June 2011 Frank, together with his band The Sleeping Souls and producer Tristan Ivemy created a record with a quintessental English sound. 'England Keep My Bones' has a nostalgic feel to it - an homage to his homeland, friends and family. Featuring contributons from ex-Hold Steady keyboardist Franz Nicolay, folk singers Emily Barker and Chris T-T, and Unbelievable Truth's Andy Yorke, he covers themes of mortality, relatonships and religion in what is a bold, ballsy yet beautful album.
