(T)here from before the birth of Banquet as we know it today, there's been countless instores, Peel shows and New Slangs in the last ten years. So it's completely fitting that the now world superstar (he played the freaking Olympics) guy, ace musician / songwriter, and outright friend of the shop comes back to play here on the celebration of independent record stores that is Record Store Day. Frank has a 7" out for RSD which we hope we'll still have copies of by 7pm on the night., However, at this point we're restricting entry to those who buy the new album from us, which is released the day after RSD13. 7pm start with all ages welcome. Get Better: A Film About Frank Turner
The absolute legend that is Frank Turner is releasing his full length documentary-film to DVD, it's full of snippets of his touring life, his passion for music, insiders into writing Positive Songs For Negative People and more (there's even a little mention of us!). If you're into Frank Turner then this is an absolute must-see. Get Better: A Film About Frank Turner is a yearlong character study of one of the hardest working musicians on earth. Encompassing footage from friends, family and fans across England, Europe and the USA, film maker and friend Ben Morse set out to capture a band who are constantly in motion, only to find that they suddenly stopped. Forced to pause for the first time in ten years, Get Better: A Film About Frank Turner explores what drives a man to stay on the road, and what that means for his life and those around him. In candid interviews, Frank, the band and everyone they meet explore what drives someone ever onwards.

Advent Calendar 2 09
For the best part of the decade Xtra Mile have been releasing quality new music and we've been supporting them all the way. They've very kindly contributed a mixed platter of FREE DOWNLOADS from the current and upcoming label catalogue. www.xtramilerecordings.com As Frank continues on his meteoric rise to worldwide domination, this beautiful rendition of a Million Dead classic serves as the perfect reminder of the long and at times arduous journey he has taken. Originally a mind-bendingly fiery punk/hardcore riot, Frank and his current band have pared it down, stripped it back and laid bare the songwriting and lyrical genius, breathing new life into the song. Stunning audiences by playing it live on the recent October tour has meant this track continues to be the ultimate fan favourite. Previously only available on The First Three Years released December 2008. With a knack for great story telling and witty lines gravel voiced Beans On Toast is a real underground hero. Winning fans all over the country with his recent support slots on Frank Turner’s October tour, Beans’ Bragg-esque songs of sex, drugs and politics are fast becoming lauded folk anthems. ‘The Pub In Holloway’ is a brilliantly told tale of a sad sad moment within the North London music scene. Taken from the 2xCD debut album ‘Standing On A Chair’ out 30th November. It’s been quite a year for The Xcerts who continue to go from strength to strength, slowly building a rather fervent fan base. They kicked off the year with the release of their stunning debut album ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile’, went on to play a plethora of festivals, represent their country at the ‘British Anthems’ showcase in Japan and finished it with tours with heroes Idlewild, Funeral For A Friend and pals This City. This track is where it all started back in February. Expect brand new music in 2010! Taken from the debut album ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile’ released in March 2009 Producing one of the best debut albums of the year, Crazy Arm crashed into the scene with a steamrolling, roots-punk opus that draws on a myriad of diverse influences ranging from ‘60s country-rock to hardcore punk to crunchy, guitar pop with a passionate allegiance to grass-roots politics. Hard-working, and fiercely independent Crazy Arm have built up a loyal fanbase set to grow further when they support Frank Turner on his massive tour in March 2010. This was the first single released off the album ‘Born To Ruin’ and a fast-paced thumpingly awesome folk/punk crossover. Taken from the debut album ‘Born To Ruin’ released 15th June 2009 Currently putting the finishing touches to his seventh studio album, influential cult singer Chris T-T, is working on his most intimate work yet. ‘Love Is Not Rescue’ is due out in March on Xtra Mile and this demo version of ‘Halfway House/I Don’t Sleep Around’ is a perfect indication of the delicate beauty of this record. It is a return to Chris's original visceral yearnings of love and loss; “British pop’s street-poet laureate and unsung genius” (The Sunday Times) has produced another awesome record. ‘Love Is Not Rescue’ is out on 15th March. Newest signings to the Xtra Mile family, Welsh upstarts Straight Lines are currently winning over audiences all over the country as they support Motorhead, The Automatic and Kids In Glass Houses. Their debut album ‘Persistance In This Game’ is to be released in February next year and this track ‘A Place To Stay’ is just a small taster of the catchy power/pop/punk on offer on this incredible album. Expect big things from this lot in 2010! Taken from the debut album ‘Persistence In This Game’s out on 1st February 2010 The Xcerts + Chris TT will both be playing at Sam Isaac's final show at The Lexington, London on Friday 4th December.
