Elbow Giants Of All Sizes The new full length album from Elbow. CD + O-Card is a CD with a hard clear plastic O-card sleeve, which when pulled off will leave the CD artwork bare of text. The National Album Day Edition is very limited, it is the full album but with no breaks so it can only be played as 1 long track / a single body of work. Guy Garvey describes the album as “an angry, old blue lament which finds its salvation in family, friends, the band and new life.” It is a record that lyrically takes in moments of deep personal loss whilst reflecting its times by confronting head-on the spectres of injustice and division not just in the UK but across the world. It is a record that could only have been made in the 21st Century. Given such bleak, if ultimately redeemed, subject matter, it is also, perversely, the most relaxed record which elbow have made in some time. On ‘Giants of All Sizes’, each band member extended their usual process of working on demos alone and followed their vision to its conclusion rather than, as Craig Potter puts it, ‘taking the edges off things to find compromise’. In tandem with this, they returned to playing live in the studio, encouraged to experiment with the banks of analogue equipment at Clouds Hill in Northern Germany, giving songs a looser, more live feel. Elbow Best Of Triple LP includes a download code. Elbow release a handpicked collection of their best moments to date. The album, features tracks from all the bands seven studio albums to date and highlights their incredible musical output over the last eighteen years from the release of the Newborn EP in 1999. Also featured on the album as a bonus track is the band's version of The Beatles Golden Slumbers. “Best Ofs are a good way of introducing new fans to a big back catalogue. My first Leonard Cohen album was ‘The Best Of’, same with Fleetwood Mac and Nick Drake. It took ages for us to decide what should go on ours, but we got there in the end. We are really proud of this, it’s full of memories.” - Guy Garvey Polydor CD | LP

Elbow The Seldom Seen Kid Live At Abbey Road On January 17th, 2009, elbow played a very special show to an invited audience at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra, the band created an orchestral version of ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, the album that had won them the Mercury Music Prize of 2008 and made them household names. This version of the recording has been remastered from the digital source and cut to vinyl at half speed to ensure the best possible audio quality. ‘It was humbling to work with such an amazing group of musicians and arranger Nick Ingman and, even now, I have to pinch myself when I think we are part of the amazing musical history of Abbey Road. We knew we had a ten-minute window to re-record anything that went wrong because of the way that orchestras are paid but, with an audience in the room, we were determined to get it right first time. The show felt a bit like unicycling on a high wire to start with, but the result is something that I am eternally proud of.’ UMC / Polydor LP

Elbow Little Fictions The seventh studio album from alternative-rock band, Elbow. The singles suggest that the record has an extremely vibrant, uplifting and gives a sense of euphoric atmosphere. ‘Little Fictions’ is an upbeat album. All the band talk of the sessions being ‘joyful’, Mark summarises it as ‘the sound of four people who love what they do and each other’, of an album that came into being naturally and, at times even unconsciously. Lead single ‘Magnificent (She Says)’ was embraced for the joyous, thrilling piece of music it is, positive and outward looking. Mark never even considered his audible switch towards electric guitars, most notable on the psychedelic lushness of ‘All Disco’, until the very end of the process. CD | LP
