Dreadzone Presents Dubwiser Volume Two Dreadzone Indies exclusive LP is on 180g 'green' coloured vinyl. This edition strikes a darker contrast with the sunnier aspects of Volume One. Lockdown restrictions with minimal contact led to creating new projects remotely which come together here on the second instalment in the compilation series of the wider Dreadzone fold. Greg Dread’s online live sessions over the 18 months brought about a positive energy from all the people tuning in to the music. They became the inspiration for this album which grew out of that time. Dreadzone’s remix of the Megative cover of Big Audio Dynamite’s Sightsee MC feat. Mick Jones on guitar, Don Letts on vocals and Leo Williams on bass sets the tone for a more eclectic edition of Dubwiser. Collaborations, remixes and artists own tracks make for a stellar line up on Volume Two - Emily Capell, Italian dub maestro Gaudi, Professor Skank, Bazil, Sub Mantra, Dubmatix and Dreadzone all feature on this new compilation. Dreadzone Once Upon A Time Following the release of Dreadzone’s dance-floor infused 4th album ‘Sound’ in 2001 the need to take the album live would see a change of line-up. New man Ben Balafonic took on touring duties and moved his mixing desk into the Dread Central studio in West London to start a brand new partnership. Along with new live MC Spee and Greg Dread’s brother Steve a team was building that would go on to create a tougher more MC driven skanking spin on the bass heavy dread sound. Earl 16 also became a big part of an album that evolved slowly in between other projects and remixing during the next 3 years from 2002 to 2005. Without a live show Greg, Ben and Spee took the Dreadzone Sound System to a new level on the road resulting in a DJ mix album on the Functional Label. To build on that, Dreadzone’s 5th artist album ‘Once Upon A Time’ was finally released in 2005 also on Functional and the band’s fearsome live reputation stepped up a notch with the return of Leo Williams. The following year of touring took in many dynamic shows resulting in the live album ‘Live at Sunrise’. Sadly the tour for that record never took place. In 2006 Ben left and Steve Roberts tragically passed away effectively drawing a line under this particular period of Dreadzone. Once Upon a Time has now been remastered and is being re-released in 2020, and this time released on vinyl too. Dubwiser Records CD | LP

Dreadzone Rare Mixes Vol 1 Taken from obscure compilations and DAT tapes, lockdown provided an opportunity for rare Dreadzone tracks from the vaults to be found and played by Greg Dread online during live sessions. Due to demand, ten of these forgotten gems from the early years of the band come together on one album to provide the next release from Dubwiser. There’s an equal mix of nostalgia and progression and the bands instantly recognizable sound; ‘Places’ a happy, upbeat Summer dance track, perfect for festivals, ‘Next Generation’, musically light, but with a warning tale of the legacy we leave for the future, ‘Too Late’ a gritty, bass punching number with gloriously sleazy undercurrents features a sample from ‘Is Vic There’ by New Wave 80’s band ‘Department S’, and there’s deeper, darker dub house numbers ‘I Love You Goodbye’ & ‘Fire In The Dark’, written about recent global conflicts. Seen by some as fore runners of today’s dub and bass driven music Dreadzone have been building an impressive body of work since their early days with Alan Mcgee. It’s a reflection of the last 5 years – a culmination of growing and re-inventing the Dread sound. Always aware of the span of time that moves on, never knowing where the end of the road is but travelling towards a heroic destination.After celebrating the band’s 30-year anniversary last year, Nine welcomes the next phase of Dread with nine songs about redemption and division, love and loss and journeys inside, and around the earth. The album treads into new territories but still connects with the ambience of early Dreadzone albums.At the helm is producer, founder, writer and drummer Greg Dread with bass-master Leo Williams plus Bazil on technology and Blake Roberts on guitar with new faces and voices joining Earl 16 and Spee on this record. Nine also features LSK (Faithless), Cheshire Cat (Leftfield), Zoe Devlin (Alabama 3), Emma Gillespie and Donna Mckevitt - the voice from Second light returning. Don Letts and Tim Bran also return to contribute lyrically and sonically.-In-store Grade B.
