DJ set / Confidence Man
Tuesday 15th October
at Bacchus, 9:00pm (18+)
Admission will be via e-ticket. Your e-ticket will be delivered to your email address in time for the show (typically the day before the event). To celebrate the release of the new album 3AM (LA LA LA), Confidence Man visit Bacchus to play a DJ set after their sold-out show at Pryzm. As DJs they bring infectious energy and distinctive style, for bangin sets with a glimpse into the future of dance music. Confidence Man’s third studio album, "3AM (LA LA LA)" released via CHAOS/Polydor Records/I OH YOU Records, sees the delinquent party starters popify 90's UK rave sounds like no one before. Inspired by a recent move to London, meeting their idols KLF, and becoming immersed in the queer club scene, Confidence Man have taken the ideas of hedonism, ecstasy and losing yourself to the music and distilled them into pure a-grade euphoria. The record spans the electronic spectrum from breakbeat and trance, to left-field Underworld size techno and the “let’s 'ave it” punk energy of legacy artists like The Prodigy. “3AM (LA LA LA)” follows their hugely successful second album “TILT”, which featured breakout single and festival crowd favourite ‘Holiday’. Staunchly defying trends and bringing Janet, Sugar, Reggie and Clarence along for a helluva good time, "3AM (LA LA LA)" feels bigger, bolder and in some ways brutal, but like, in a hot way. "3AM (LA LA LA)" is a welcome escape from the dull wasteland of modern mediocrity, bringing the weird and wonderful world of Confidence Man to the masses.-Times TBC but we assume doors at 9:00pm with Confidence Man's DJ set to start at 10:00pm.This is an 18+ event. DJ set / ROMY
Thursday 14th September
at Pryzm, 11:00pm (18+)
THIS IS STRICTLY AN 18+ SHOW. NO ID, NO ENTRY, NO EXCEPTIONS.Admission will be via e-ticket. Your e-ticket will be delivered to your email address in time for the show (typically the day before the event). To celebrate the release of the new album 'Mid Air', ROMY visits Kingston to play a DJ set at Pryzm.Mid Air is an album about celebration, sanctuary and salvation on the dance floor. It's an album that deals with love, grief, relationships, identity and sexuality and is a love letter to the queer clubs where Romy found community and connection. It’s a coming-out album in a way, although she came out in her personal life a long time ago, but it’s also a coming-through album – through grief and heartache, towards euphoria.Mid Air sees Romy working alongside producers Fred again.. and Stuart Price, as well as her bandmate Jamie xx on recent single “Enjoy Your Life”. Also featuring the previous single (and crossover anthem) “Strong”, Mid Air is the perfect encapsulation of a sound Romy describes as “emotional music to dance to”. It’s a sound that’s set to unify dancefloors, distilling Romy’s love of club classics and classic song writing and finding the sweet spot – like much of Romy’s favourite music – between euphoria, escapism, sadness and melancholy. To celebrate news of the album, Romy today releases her latest single, the Fred again..-produced “Loveher”. It’s a pivotal track for Romy and acts as both the album opener and the first song to be written for the record. Romy and Fred were first paired together to write songs for other people, but their fast friendship and musical connection proved to be a spark for something new. After writing “Loveher”, a declarative pop song about the intimacy of falling in love with a woman, “Fred asked me, who could this be for?” explains Romy “and I tentatively said… ‘maybe me?’”. A proud and positive queer love story, this was the beginning of Mid Air.-Times TBC but we expect doors at 11:00pm with Romy on stage at 11:30pm.Pryzm is 18+ for this show and EVERYONE needs to bring PHOTO ID (driving license / passport). DJ set / Foster The People
Thursday 22nd August
at Bacchus, 10:00pm (18+)
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUETo celebrate the release of the new album Paradise State of Mind, Foster The People visit Kingston to play a DJ set at Bacchus!“Lost In Space” heralds the arrival of Foster The People’s long awaited fourth studio album, Paradise State of Mind, arriving August 16."The record started as a case study of the late Seventies crossover between disco, funk, gospel, jazz, and all those sounds. It was such a beautiful moment in time, when these different styles of music were cross-referencing each other – artists like Nile Rogers and Chic, the Tom Tom Club and Giorgio Moroder," says Mark Foster."I wanted to dive into that and figure out what they were doing. I was also thinking about how that era has musical and social parallels to the time that we're in now, with the giant recession in the Seventies, the political turmoil post-Vietnam, and other major tensions. But then you see these expressions of joy happening through music, and I started thinking about joy as an act of defiance."The album’s artwork, commissioned by Foster, was originally an oil painting on panel, created by renowned Brooklyn based artist, Matt Hansel. It captures the essence of different spaces in the mind. Each space represents its current state and leads to another that may have a totally different feeling.Times now confirmed as doors at 10pm with a stage time of 11pm.This is an 18+ event.
