Courtney Barnett Nameless, Faceless A new surprise 7" single from Courtney Barnett, awesome slacker / garage indie-rock taken from her highly anticipated second full length solo album Tell Me How You Really Feel. One of the most distinctive voices in music, Courtney is known for mixing witty observations with unflinching self-assessment - fast forward to now and although all of the cleaver turns of phrase and an eye for story telling are still there; this new collection of songs see a more serious and outwardly tone capturing the current social landscape yet still retaining moments of intimacy and warmth. As the world becomes more familiar with Courtney Barnett these songs feel comforting and emphatic yet that raw energy and the ability to make the listener think still remain. Marathon Artists 7"

Courtney Barnett Boxing Day Blues (Revisited) / Shivers The brilliant Courtney Barnett gets involved with Jack White's blue series and recorded these two songs at Third Man HQ The A-side “Boxing Day Blues Revisited” is the slinky and bittersweet epilogue to “Boxing Day Blues”, the somber album closer from Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit. It’s a strangely catching, plaintive reflection on the loneliness that blossoms when a person you care about treats you like literal garbage. The track is jaunty yet aloof, with CB’s trademark conversational lyricism in perfect contrast to the B-side, a beautifully dark reboot of the Roland S. Howard penned “Shivers” back in the days of The Boys Next Door. Her unfastened delivery of an ironic tale of teenage love and mortality brings a new level of feeling that makes it a welcome addition to Sounds of Late Fall mix you’ve been working on. Keep your eye out and ears peeled for this one ‘cause you ain’t gonna wanna miss it. Third Man Records 7"

Courtney Barnett Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit First album proper from from Austalian singer / songwriter Courtney Barnett. With a tasteful sense of humour Courtney shifts between various aspects of indie-rock from the dreamy poppy folk side to the gritty garage-rock side resulting in an album which will appeal to fans of Camera Obscura, Sleater Kinney, Belle & Sebastian and Menace Beach'Sometimes I Just Sit and Think, and Sometimes I just Sit' cements Barnett's standing as one of the most distinctive voices in indie rock. Mixing witty, often hilarious observations with devastating self-assessment over a beguiling collection of songs that reveals her as an ambitious songwriter with an ear for clever turns of phrase and an eye for story-song details that are literate without being pretentious. Depressing rentals and dead foxes, go-nowhere relationships and dead end suburbs, even her own fears, doubts and insecurities - nothing escapes Barnett's caustic sense of humour. Courtney Barnett A Sea Of Split Peas Double EP from excellent Australian singer / songwriter Courtney Barnett. Fans of bands like Camera Obscura and Belle & Sebastian will enjoy this! The collection is a record of two halves, and collates her story so far. It fittingly begins with six brand new songs and is then backed with six older tracks which were originally released in the form of her 2012 debut EP. Together, ‘The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas’ spans genres and stories, and is a unique introduction to an incomparable and exciting new talent. As well as ‘Avant Gardener’, selected highlights include the gorgeous and woozy piano-strewn opener ‘Out Of The Woodwork’, which shows the darker side of her writing. ‘Anonymous Club’ sees Courtney at her romantic, melancholic best, while the infectious, Dylan-esque cavalcade that is ‘History Eraser’ was recently nominated alongside Tame Impala for the APRA Song Of The Year back in Australia House Anxiety CD | LP
Courtney Barnett / Kurt Vile Lotta Sea Lice The collaborative album from slacker rockers Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile. The project came together by chance but sounds like they've been playing together for years, it's completely organic and has a classic feel. This is a conversation between friends, documented in raw, unvarnished song form, brimming with personal history, crackling with energy and shot through with humour. there’s an unforced ease to the record, helped by the fact that the pair have been not just friends, but hardcore fans of each other’s work for years, and have also roped in colleagues such as mick thomas and jim white of the dirty three, stella mozgawa from warpaint and even mick harvey to play.
