Thursday 21st July at New Slang, 9:00PM
We welcome Bear's Den to New Slang for the first time to celebrate the release of their second album! Their sound is rooted in alternative folk / country and the new album, Red Earth & Pouring Rain, progresses their sound by bringing in a modern indie-pop twist. Fans of Mumford & Sons, To Kill A King, Bon Iver and Kodaline will totally be into this. Bear's Den sold out most shows on their last headline tour and are set to do so again this Autumn including a show at Brixton Academy, so this is a great time to catch them live! Long-time New Slangers may remember the members' former project Cherbourg who played in 2009 - if so, you'll love this! Support comes from Clapham folk artist and Roadhouse resident Jay Johnson Stage times Bear's Den 10:20 - 11:35 Jay Johnson 9:30 - 10:00 Afterwards it's New Slang as usual where you can expect to hear the likes of Wolf Alice, Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Strokes, Foals and many more until 2AM. Bear's Den
Friday 26th April at All Saints Church
On the day that their new album is released, Bear's Den return to Kingston to play at All Saints Church. The hugely anticipated third full length album from the wonderful Bear's Den is titled 'So that you might hear me'. They play an absolutely stunning mix of indie-folk with electronic elements to add an ethereal feel. They were last in Kingston in 2016 at The Hippodrome and their live shows are spellbinding, we can't wait to hear this new offering and see them in the beautiful All Saints Church. A need for connection lies at the heart of the band’s third album. Both bold and exposed, intimate yet expansive, the first two tracks are a perfect example of this: ‘Fuel On The Fire’ pulses and blossoms from the visceral throb of drum machine beats and electric guitars into an orchestral beauty that showcases the more electronic side of the band. This is juxtaposed with the bewitching “Blankets Of Sorrow" that demonstrates the more intimate Bear’s Den sound and explores themes of familial love and of trying to reach someone who can no longer be reached. With the band beloved by their fans for the way their songs have woven themselves into the fabric of some of the most bittersweet chapters of their lives, ‘So that you might hear me’ continues in that vein, pairing soaring melodies with poignant and at times unsettlingly personal lyricism. Times TBC but we expect doors to be at 7:00pm with Bear's Den on at 8:00pm. This show is 14+, under 14s must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. All Saints Church, 14-16 Market Place, Kingston, KT1 1JP (next to / opposite John Lewis) Albums + Tickets will be posted separately unless you selected 'Collect in shop'.
