'Strictly For My P.A.P.I.Z’ dropped in 2012 during the ‘New, New York’ movement, when the next generation of East Coast talent - A$AP Rocky & the rest of the Mob, Joey Badass & the Pro Era crew, Action Bronson - were moving from the underground to the mainstream. What sets Bodega apart from his peers is how uncompromisingly Latino he is, part Puerto Rican and Dominican, the tape is littered with Spanish slang, lyrics and samples. The DJ Carnage produced Don Francisco sees Bodega rapping over a trumpet laced beat, sounding like a Miami gangster flick. The tape features guest spots from A$AP Ferg, on the hard hitting single ’Say Amen', and Flatbush Zombies on the choice cut ‘Trilla.’ The production on P.A.P.I.Z handled by P on the Board, JohnBoyBeats, NED and others, is so uniformly good that a lesser rapper would be totally overshadowed, but it’s where Bodega showcases his ability and versatility on the mic.
