Album Listening Party / Tortoise
Saturday 18th October
at Banquet Records, 5:00pm
We're hosting a special listening party for the new Tortoise album, hear the new album first and take home your copy home a full week early before its official release.Today, Tortoise announces Touch, the first new album from the groundbreaking group since 2016. This new record from the post-everything icons comes via International Anthem and Nonesuch Records on LP, CD, and digital download on October 24, 2025, anon streaming services on November 11, 2025. Lead single "Layered Presence" — an exercise in tension that pairs its moody pulse with a ringing, searching melodic theme — is out on all DSPs now. With Touch, the Tortoise bandmembers — Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, John Herndon, and John McEntire — harness their collectivist songwriting approach, a slightly anarchistic but resolutely egalitarian process where ideas triumph over ego towards an abstracted muscularity. While there are still excursions into the dusky, elegantly gnarled jazz ambience that flourished on landmark works like Millions Now Living Will Never Die and TNT, Touch is perhaps most remarkable for Tortoise's unapologetic embrace of grand gesture. Aerodynamically re-engineered Krautrock, hand-cranked techno rave-ups, and pointillist spaghetti western fanfares are all imbued with Tortoise's now-signature internal logic — equally alluring and confounding, a puzzle to be savored rather than solved. The stylistic diversity is also a reflection of the band's current operating circumstances: With two members now in Los Angeles, another in Portland, and just two remaining in the band's Chicago hometown, their creative process has shifted dramatically from when they lived together in a loft space in the late 1990s, honing their sound over endless hours of collective experimentation.Recorded between the three cities — Los Angeles, Portland, and Chicago — Touch is the result of an intentional effort by these five musicians to reconnect, recenter, and reinvigorate their sound for what is perhaps the group’s most diverse release to date.Touch is the culmination of a long-gestating reunion, the results of which Tortoise first shared this past March, when they released "Oganesson" — "an off-kilter, 7/4 funk tune with a spy-movie ambience" ( New York Times) that is included on the new album — ahead of a career-spanning opening night performance at the boundary-crossing music festival Big Ears. They followed that with the Oganesson Remixes EP, which featured reworks of the track from poet and activist Saul Williams, prolific mastering engineer Heba Kadry, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, indie music icons Broken Social Scene, and International Anthem labelmate Makaya McCraven.-All ages welcome. 6:00pm start."Tickets" are for collection from the shop at the time of the listening party. Albums will be posted out unless you click "Collect in Shop".This is an in-person event. We cannot provide prints for customers who do not attend.

Album Listening Party / Sabaton
Thursday 16th October
at Banquet Records, 8:00pm
We're hosting an album listening party for the new album 'Legends', hear the new album first. We'll have some exclusive posters and signed postcards for attendees, and you could win a shirt or a signed album. Our 11th studio album “Legends” takes listeners on an epic journey through the stories of some of history’s most iconic figures. This album dives into the lives of legendary characters like Jeanne D’arc, Napoleon, Julius Caesar, and the master swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, among many others who have changed the course of history and shaped the world we live in today. With “Legends”, we usher in a new era – while our sound and songwriting remains intact, we are now entering into a new chapter hand-in-hand with our new record label, Better Noise Music. This is the first time in our history that every current band member has played an active role in the songwriting process on a single album. To ensure “Legends” is as close to reality as possible, we have collaborated with our network of specialists, which we’ve developed over the years since the launch of the Sabaton History Channel. As for the artwork, we once again worked with graphic artist Peter Sallai to create a striking cover for the album. On the production side of things, we worked with Jonas Kjellgren in the Swedish Black Lounge Studios to create our classic sound.“Legends” is an unforgettable rock odyssey that spans time and borders, featuring soaring guitar riffs, spine-tingling choirs and massive choruses. This album plunges deep into the lives of history’s most powerful and mysterious figures. These aren’t just songs – they are battle hymns, forged from the blood, valour and legacy of warriors, kings, strategists and revolutionaries.-All ages welcome. 8:00pm start."Tickets" are for collection from the shop at the time of the listening party. Albums will be posted out unless you click "Collect in Shop", please note the album is released on the 17th October. This is an in-person event. Album Listening Party / AFI
Thursday 25th September
at Banquet Records, 8:00pm
We're hosting an album listening party for the new album 'Silver Bleeds The Black Sun...', hear the new album first. We'll have some exclusive posters and badges to give away, and you could be in with the chance to win a test press. For more than three decades, AFI has been in a nearly constant state of reinvention. The band have made it a point to evolve with every album—sometimes dramatically so—never allowing themselves to become too comfortable in one genre or rest on any of their impressive career laurels. It’s an approach that has grown their audience but also challenged it with a sonic identity that can shift in wild, unexpected directions. Now with their twelfth album, Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, AFI are once again at the start of a bold new chapter—only this time, they’ve even managed to surprise themselves. How does a band that’s known for creative upheaval still find ways to push themselves out of their comfort zones? Typically, the group would start an album by immediately throwing themselves into writing and simply letting their intuitive musical shorthand guide the process. But for Silver Bleeds the Black Sun…, AFI set out to purposely change their creative approach altogether. This time, it started with a conversation: how could they break new ground? The key to moving forward actually ended up coming from AFI’s collective past. “We started with something that sounded like Echo & the Bunnymen,” explains guitarist Jade Puget, who produced and engineered the album. “But eventually we ended up with this melange of death rock and post-punk—all this stuff from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s that we grew up on, like Sisters of Mercy, and Bauhaus, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.”The goal became making an album with a singular mood—something dreamy and ethereal—and the band members found themselves diving headfirst into influences that had always been deeply embedded in AFI’s musical core, but now were being brought to the forefront.Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… is dark and otherworldly, but also grandiose and stately, biting and beautiful in equal measure. In other words, it’s very AFI—yet not quite like any version of the band you’ve ever heard before.-All ages welcome. 8:00pm start."Tickets" are for collection from the shop at the time of the listening party. Albums will be posted out unless you click "Collect in Shop".This is an in-person event. We cannot provide prints for customers who do not attend.

Yes: the first Pulp album for almost 24 years. How did that happen?Well: when we started touring again in 2023, we practiced a new song called “Hymn of the North” during soundchecks & eventually played it at the end of our second night at Sheffield Arena. This seemed to open the floodgates: we came up with the rest of the songs on this album during the first half of 2024. A couple are revivals of ideas from last century. The music for one song was written by Richard Hawley. The music for another was written by Jason Buckle. The Eno family sing backing vocals on a song. There are string arrangements written by Richard Jones & played by the Elysian Collective. The album was recorded over 3 weeks by James Ford in Walthamstow, London, starting on November 18th, 2024. This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record. It was obviously ready to happen. These are the facts. We hope you enjoy the music. It was written & performed by four human beings from the North of England, aided & abetted by five other human beings from various locations in the British Isles. No A.I. was involved during the process. This album is dedicated to Steve Mackey. This is the best that we can do.Thanks for listening.”-Please note: Bacchus is an 18+ venue, so please bring photo ID or you won't be able to get in! Doors 10:00pm with the album playback starting at 10:30pm.This is an in-person event. Goodie bags are to be collected at Bacchus - we cannot provide these for customers who do not attend.
