The Twilight Sad Friday 25th January at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Tickets for collection at our shop on the evening of the in-store. Please bring your order number with you. Just after the release of their new album, James and Andy of The Twilight Sad play an intimate acoustic set in the shop. The Scottish legends are back with their fifth full length titled IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, that follows on from 2014's Nobody Wants To Leave. Big and emotive post-punk soaked alternative tunes, they were last here in the shop in 2015 and we are delighted for their return. If you're into the likes of The National, The Cure, Editors or Interpol, then you need to get into this band. From their unassuming origins as a group of school friends drawn together by a shared passion for music to the global touring force (supporting The Cure and Editors at arenas and stadiums), they have quietly become, The Twilight Sad’s ascent has been forged the old way with grit, graft and four exceptional studio albums. Now signed to Mogwai’s Rock Action Records, the bands fifth album does not disappoint and will certainly not disappoint fans of their previous works. In-store Grade A. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME from us. CD | LP New In
Nina Nesbitt Thursday 31st January at Banquet Records, 6:00pm The day before her new album is released, Nina Nesbitt plays an all ages set in the shop. The second full length from the singer-songwriter, titled The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change sees another offering of emotionally charged electro-pop and we're excited to welcome her back to Kingston. The album bears no hint of compromise as Nina demonstrates her unique talent for acute lyrical observations and ear-worm melodies. Heralding a musical change of direction from Nina with more obvious pop influences, the album is a scintillating journey through a whole range of genres and moods. In-store Grade A. Cherry Glazerr Wednesday 6th February at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Tickets for collection at our shop on the evening of the in-store. Please bring your order number with you. Celebrating the release of their new album, Cherry Glazerr return to the shop. Stuffed & Ready is the third full length album from the awesome garage/indie-punkers that follows on from 2016's critically acclaimed Apocalipstick. We're super excited to have them come back and play in the shop, fans of The Breeders, Cloud Nothings or Black Honey should definitely check these out. “I am telling my story of how I feel and where I am in life,” says frontwoman Clementine Creevy. “I’ve felt the need to explain my feelings … not just state them, but search for why I feel the way I do honestly. With Apocalipstick, I was an over-confident teenager trying to solve the world’s problems. With Stuffed & Ready, I’m a much more weary and perhaps a more cynical woman who believes you need to figure your own self out first.” In-store Grade B. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of Stuffed & Ready from us. CD | LP
