Idlewild Sunday 25th August at Banquet Records, 12:30pm With their new full length album out now, Idlewild play an acoustic set in the shop in August. Following on from 2015's Everything Ever Written, the wonderful Scottish rockers bring their eighth full length Interview Music. “A lot of the songs are about dreams and dreaming and the thoughts and ideas that come from this state,” says Woomble. I live in the Scottish Highlands, and between there and California you’ve got two locations that can put you in a dream like state - driving down Sunset Boulevard as the sun sets or driving over the remote Ardnamurchan peninsula as the sun rises. The world seems unreal, magical. You’re dreaming through a landscape.” In-store Grade A. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of Interview Music from us. Signing - 12:30pm In-store session - 1:30pm Tickets are for collection in the shop on the day of the in-store, please bring your order number with you. MY LIFE STORY Friday 6th September at Banquet Records, 6:00pm The day their new album is released, My Life Story visits Kingston to play in the shop. With a string of top 40 hit singles and albums in the 1990s, epic pop pioneers, My Life Story received huge critical acclaim with their brand of grand, orchestral pop, leading many artists of the Britpop era to feature them on their records. Heading up this clever, witty and beautiful wall of sound is the charismatic frontman Jake Shillingford, famous for his sharp tongue and even sharper suits. Vocalist and songwriter Shillingford has cowritten and coproduced the highly anticipated album World Citizen alongside guitarist Nick Evans creating a new and distinctly rockier sound. World Citizen was composed during the recent chaotic global news landscape where reality as we thought we knew it is constantly being reinvented... In dark times we find safety in what we know and understand. It’s about returning to the sense of the self, the freedom and simplicity of nature and the clarity and honesty of love and union. Ultimately, I’d say the theme of the album is searching for truth in a world full of lies. Even if that’s a personal truth.” In-store Grade B. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of World Citizen from us. All albums + tickets are for collection from the shop on the day of the in-store, please bring your order number with you.
