You Tell Me Thursday 10th January at Banquet Records, 6:00pm The day before the release of their debut album, You Tell Me visit the shop. You Tell Me is the new side project from Peter Brewis and Sarah Hayes, known from Field Music and Admiral Fallow respectively. A spectacular fusion of crafted indie-pop songwriting with folky vibes. By blending their distinct compositional talents, they’ve created a record that possesses their own clear styles but also a new voice too. With both of them writing songs and lyrics, Peter describes it as “a sort of dual-personal record”. Sonically, the result is a subtly crafted album with a rich and intricate sense of composition, in which strings glide above multi-layered keyboards and percussion, and vocal melodies wrap around one another in snug unison. In many senses it feels like a classic songwriter record - rich in craft, songs, arrangements and vocal interplay - yet it manages to feel stylistically contemporary and void of nostalgia. In-store Grade B. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of You Tell Me from us. CD | LP
Cherry Glazerr Wednesday 6th February at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Celebrating the release of their new album, Cherry Glazerr return to the shop. Stuffed & Ready is the third full length album from the awesome garage/indie-punkers that follows on from 2016's critically acclaimed Apocalipstick. We're super excited to have them come back and play in the shop, fans of The Breeders, Cloud Nothings or Black Honey should definitely check these out. “I am telling my story of how I feel and where I am in life,” says frontwoman Clementine Creevy. “I’ve felt the need to explain my feelings … not just state them, but search for why I feel the way I do honestly. With Apocalipstick, I was an over-confident teenager trying to solve the world’s problems. With Stuffed & Ready, I’m a much more weary and perhaps a more cynical woman who believes you need to figure your own self out first.” In-store Grade B. Priority will be given to anyone who orders a copy of Stuffed & Ready from us. CD | LP New In
