Mogwai / Album Listening Party Monday 20th January
at Bacchus, 9:00pm (18+) We're hosting a special album listening party for the new Mogwai album before it's released. So we can hear it as it's supposed to sound - LOUD! This event will take place at our local cellar club Bacchus. We're taking it back to the roots, at the venue of Mogwai's first every show in England!. There's a limited amount of exclusive posters to give away, a merch bundle, tickets to their Kingston Pryzm show, and you you'll be in the draw for 2025 tour tickets.Mogwai’s “The Bad Fire” was recorded at Chem19 studios in Scotland with American Grammy Award winning producer John Congleton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, John Grant) joining the band in the studio for their eleventh album. A Scottish colloquialism for Hell, The Bad Fire draws inspiration from a series of tough personal moments that the band found themselves in following on from their chart-topping tenth album, As The Love Continues. All vinyl comes packaged in a gatefold sleeve, with MP3 download code and etching. The photo booklet in the box sets includes a series of photographs taken by producer and Chem19 studio owner Paul Savage (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Arab Strap ) during the band's recording sessions.-Please note: Bacchus is an 18+ venue, so please bring photo ID or you won't be able to get in! FKA twigs / Signing Session Friday 24th January
at Banquet Records, 5:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of 'EUSEXUA', FKA twigs visits Kingston for a signing session.FKA twigs announces her highly-anticipated third studio album, EUSEXUA. The album will be released on 24th January 2025 via Young Recordings. Eusexua is a state of being. A feeling of momentary transcendence often evoked by art, music, sex, and unity. Eusexua can be followed by a state of bliss and feelings of limitless possibility. Also used to refer to: ‘The pinnacle of Human Experience’. It is united through any moment in which we are fully embodying ourselves, present in the moment, disconnected from technology, synthesized with those around us. It was moments of Eusexua that birthed EUSEXUA the album, as twigs cites her late nights in the underground techno scene of Prague.-5:00pm start with all ages welcome. False Reality / Equals What? Friday 24th January

To celebrate the release of the new EP 'Path of Self Destruct', False Reality visit Kingston to play at The Fighting Cocks.Comprised of individuals deeply rooted in the underground music scene, False Reality are a London-based hardcore band that formed in 2023. Renowned for their thrash infused, hardcore crossover sound and fiercely energetic performances they draw influences from bands such as Trapped Under Ice, Broken Teeth and Backtrack as well as early era Sepultura and even Deftones.Having recorded the debut EP 'Path of Self Destruct' with producer Steve Sears Jr (Gallows, TRC, Prowler, Conjurer), False Reality set out to prove why they stand apart, delivering a release that is in equal parts blistering as it is poetically cathartic. Lyrically delving into the complexities of life, exploring themes of betrayal, societal values, and tragedy. The first single released, 'Opposites React', is a groove-driven empowering track that features vocals from Jem of Aussie hardcore band Speed, which has received support from Daniel P Carter and Alyx Holcombe on BBC Radio One.On ‘Opposites React’, vocalist RacheI Rigby comments ‘I feel excited to release this song and to have been able to share it with my friends in Speed. Ditz Saturday 25th January
at Banquet Records, 7:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album 'Never Exhale', Ditz visits Kingston to play an in-store set.‘Never exhale’ is the sound of a band that hasn’t stopped for a breath. DITZ have toured relentlessly since the release of their first album ‘The Great Regression’. The songs that form their newest offering were written across Europe, often on off days and in borrowed rehearsal rooms. It could be said that the band treat recording and release of music as an afterthought. Often playing songs live years before their release, tweaking them as they go. The songs on the final record may change before they are ever heard as part of the album.‘Never Exhale’ was largely recorded at Holy Mountain studios in London during a freezing cold January. The process was frought with obstacles, the original plan, to go and record in Rhode Island, was abandoned when DITZ were offered a support tour with IDLES, although the album was still mixed by the originally intended engineer, Seth Manchester (Model/Actriz, Lingua Ignota, Big Brave). The result is an album hardened by the pressure of its own making. Laboured but not loved.-In-store Grade B. Johnny Lloyd Friday 31st January
at Banquet Records, 5:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album 'Punchline', Johnny Lloyd visits Kingston to play an in-store set.The fourth studio album under his own name, ‘Punchline’ is Johnny Lloyd’s first solo album since 2021’s ‘La La La’ and follows a prolific period of songwriting for TV and film (where he won the RTS Best Original Music Award for ‘I Hate Suzie’) as well as a new album and tour with his band Tribes. Produced by musician and producer Max Clilverd (who has previously worked with Tom Odell, Holly Humberstone and earlier Johnny Lloyd albums) the ten-track album showcases Lloyd’s expansive songwriting talents, tackling themes of love loss and letting go. Throughout October, Johnny will be supporting Everyone Says Hi – (featuring members from Kaiser Chiefs, Kooks, Dead 60s and Howling Bells) – and then will be headlining his own shows in January and February. ‘Punchline’ will be released on 31st January 2025 on Xtra Mile Recordings and will be available on LP, CD and digital.-In-store Grade B. Everyone Says Hi Tuesday 4th February
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the debut self-titled album, Everyone Says Hi visits Kingston to play an in-store set.Everyone Says Hi is the brand-new band created by frontman and ex-Kaiser Chiefs member, Nick Hodgson. The band also includes members Pete Denton (The Kooks), Ben Gordon (The Dead 60s), Glenn Moule (Howling Bells) and Tom Dawson. Their debut album with Chrysalis Records is a collection of dreamy-pop sounds inspired by the likes of REM, The Strokes, Daft Punk, Cigarettes After Sex and Mac Demarco. The sound of Everyone Says Hi is owed to what Nick calls ‘analogue hour’: “After dinner at my house, we listen to a record, no phones, TV, or remote control, just put it on and take it all in.” Nick remarks on the feelings of wanting to create an album that focuses on authenticity over production "I wanted to make an album that I’d listen to at night on the record player" "The band’s approach to the changing music landscape is pragmatic yet passionate".-In-store Grade B. Dilettante Friday 7th February
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album 'Life Of The Party', Dilettante visits Kingston to play an in-store set.Dilettante return with their second album Life of the Party, Pidgeon’s first totally self-produced record and her most personal one yet. Made in the confines of a converted freight container, the album is an outpouring of frustration towards societal pressures and the acceptance of realising she sees the world differently to others. “I went to see Poor Things and I really felt like Emma Stone’s character made sense to me,” explains Francesca. “She’s really literal and sort of just looks at the way polite society always does things and says, ‘why are we doing that? That doesn’t make sense, let’s do it this way’.”Life Of The Party covers a range of topics, from turning thirty and feeling the pressure to start a family, to feeling constrained within monogamous relationships as well as the more weighty matter of speaking out about sexual assault and dealing with the associated repercussions.-In-store Grade B. NIA WYN Wednesday 12th February
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new EP 'A Pleasure To Have In Class', Nia Wyn visit Kingston to play an in-store set.Welsh soul artist and producer Nia Wyn has a talent for raw and powerful storytelling. Growing up in a small town in North Wales, Nia struggled with mental illness, isolation and confusion around her identity, taking solace in old records she found and playing guitar in her room. Inspired by the soul that came out of Philadelphia, Memphis and Detroit in the 60s and 70s, Nia writes, produces and sings songs about modern issues: being queer, hard times young people face in the UK and mental health. Her debut album A Pleasure To Have In Class showcases Nia's strong influences of mid-century soul, but with a modern twist. Wyn's vivid storytelling and reflective lyricism is partnered with heavy Motown and Stax inspired arrangements, her unmistakable and distinctly powerful vocals. Across her debut, Nia Wyn has self-produced numerous tracks, with production also coming from regular collaborators Duncan Pym, edbl and Evil Genius. The Wombats Thursday 13th February

By 2018’s Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life they’d stepped up to arenas around the world, and 2022’s Fix Yourself, Not the World was the band’s first UK #1 album. Utopian Ashes is a new collaborative project from the Primal Scream frontman alongside solo artist and Savages vocalist Jehnny Beth. Exploring loss, miscommunication and emotional inarticulacy that a married couple experience as they realise that their relationship is breaking down. ‘Utopian Ashes’ draws on the tradition of country soul classics, such as Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris’s ‘Grievous Angel’ and George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s ‘We Go Together’, to deal with the heavy realities of love turning sour. It’s an album for people who have dealt with the inevitable sadness that comes with age and acknowledged the realities of life.
