Art School Girlfriend Friday 8th May
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of the new album, Art School Girlfriend visits Kingston for a live stripped-back solo performance.London-based, Wrexham-raised artist and producer Art School Girlfriend announces her third studio album Lean In, due March 11th via Fiction Records. She also shares new track ‘The Peaks’, and announces a 2026 run of headline dates. Armed with the freedom and space to experiment, Lean In was self-produced in her own East London studio and sees Art School Girlfriend set to move from cult bedroom artist to one of the UK’s most vital artist/producers operating at the moment, tackling alternative rock, electronic pop & experimental ambient sounds in her most cohesive work to date. Lean In arrives at a time where her audience has grown exponentially, partly due to her diverse involvement across the music scene at large – contributions to the work of Daniel Avery, Lane 8, Jasper Tygner and Ghostpoet; being chosen by Bonobo to DJ at his Outliers series at Drumsheds; touring the US with both The Japanese House and Marika Hackman; a notable DJ set for HOR; producing and engineering for up-and-coming post-rock band Pencil; the tastemaker curation of her 5-years-in-the-running monthly radio show on Foundation FM.Self-producing, writing and recording Lean In, Mackey invites the listener to quite literally lean into the world she has built around her. Alexis Strum Tuesday 12th May
at Banquet Records, 6:00pm Admission will be via order number, please bring yours to the shop.To celebrate the release of 'Addicted', Alexis Strum visits Kingston to play an in-store set.Singer-songwriter and cult pop artist Alexis Strum releases her long-lost debut album Addicted for the first time ever on CD & Vinyl.‘Addicted’ is a sparkling time capsule of early noughties electropop, boasting collaborations with the likes of Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Sophie Ellis-Bextor), Richard X (Kelis, Annie) and Joel Edwards of Deepest Blue. Bold, sexy and bursting with attitude, the record delivers an exhilarating joy ride of vibrant synths and killer pop hooks from start to finish.The album itself carries a fascinating back story. First recorded back in 2002 while Alexis was signed to a multi-album deal with Warner Music, the collection never saw the light of day due to label wrangles, despite strong fan anticipation at the time. However, something magical happened and despite not being allowed to be a success for Alexis herself, the songs found a home with some of the biggest pop princesses. Skindred / Acoustic Set Sunday 17th May

Newport’s reggae-metal soundsystem Skindred were already renowned as an exhilarating live band, but 2023’s ‘Smile’ album changed the game. It shot to #2 in the UK charts, followed by a packed headline show at Wembley Arena, and led them to become proud winners of Best Alternative Act at the MOBO Awards.But how can you possibly top that? For Skindred and the upcoming ‘You Got This’ album, the answer was simple. Mitski Monday 18th May

All songs and vocals are by Mitski. The album was produced and engineered by Patrick Hyland and mastered by Bob Weston, with assistance on drums and logistics from Kris Bulakowski. Continuing the musical through line established with The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, the album features live instrumentation by The Land touring band and ensemble arrangements. The orchestra was recorded at Sunset Sound and TTG Studios, arranged and conducted by Drew Erickson, engineered by Michael Harris, with additional engineering by Isaac Diskin and assistance from Alex Miller. Standout singles include “Where’s My Phone?,” “I’ll Change for You,” and “If I Leave.” Mitski is currently writing the music and lyrics for the musical adaptation of The Queen’s Gambit. at Banquet Records, 6:00pm We're hosting an album listening party for the new album 'LP4', hear the new album early and you can pick up an free prints, stickers and more - You'll also have the opportunity to pre-orer a very limited edition hand-stamped white label of the album. For avoidance of doubt, Ed O'Brien will not be in attendance. Join us on Wednesday 20th May as we play the new album ‘Blue Morpho’ from Ed O’Brien, ahead of its 22nd May release date. All attendees will get free prints and stickers, and anybody preordering the album on the day will also get an exclusive tote bag. Chinese American Bear Friday 22nd May

We were having a lot of fun and inspiration was still high,” the band explain. “The album explores themes around what we love—food, little joys, fun simple nonsense, China, love, anthems, and fairytales. It’s a collage of our life, distilled into positivity and lightheartedness.”Often described as The Flaming Lips, Dusty Springfield, and The Beach Boys having a baby with a Care Bear, Chinese American Bear’s music is bursting with comedy, groove, quirk, and cuteness. Night Swimming Friday 22nd May

Opal Mag Friday 29th May

With influences including Mazzy Star, The Sundays, The Breeders, and The Smashing Pumpkins, it's no wonder Stereogum considers Opal Mag "a promising new voice of the '90s indie rock revival".
