Deaf Havana at The Hippodrome - photo by Jez Pennington
Thursday 9th August at All Saints Church
Just after the release of their hugely anticipated new album, Deaf Havana return to Kingston for an intimate and stripped back set.
The incredible alt-rockers are back and they're returning in style with their fifth full length album, Rituals. They've injected a huge dose of anthemic pop and experimental electronics into their already towering songwriting. Following on from their alternative version of All These Countless Nights and a spellbinding show at The Union Chapel, the new album sees plenty of themes of religion and has a had a big influence in pushing their sounds, having them play at Kingston's All Saints Church will be a truly beautiful and cathartic show.
Rituals is the result of throwing out the ‘Deaf Havana rulebook’: first; James picked the song titles, second; he wrote tracks that fit the theme of those titles, third; everything was written on the computer, then the band came in to play all the parts. Working like this felt like working backwards to James, who had previously only written songs on his acoustic guitar, with continuous input from the rest of the band. They set themselves a deadline of April to finish writing, and if any of it was any good, they would make it available by August. No more waiting half a decade for people to finally hear any music.
Times TBC but we expect doors to be at 7:00pm. Check back.
