A superb debut release from Aaron Aupheus, which delivers sick production skills with a real 90's Mo Wax/DJ Shadow/DJ Krush vibe to it... Hefty betas and vibes with immaculate sound quality and depth - make sure you get on this, you won't be disappointed... Here are some more words of praise! -

"...An amazing debut release from Aupheus, someone most won't have heard of but for whom I can't believe that'll last very long. He's got previous on UKHH.com, with third place in our production competition back in 2000 (was it really that long ago?!). He's been putting in shows with his group DEFDFIRES since around the same time, as well as
supporting various groups DJing solo, including Rodney P, Skinnyman & Task Force, so you may well've heard him play already ...

But on to the EP. From the artwork you get a good idea of what's in store, clever reworkings of hieroglyphics that after looking closer you realise are turntables and mixers and the like, alongside the main image that looks like a tribal mask wearing headphones and a gas mask - original and well done and professional, already a good sign as far as the general quality is concerned.

Musically, from the outset what hits you are the dark atmospheres created by multi-layered soundscapes with crisp crisp sounds, from cleverly chosen film clips, a dash of world music and metal sampling and eerie chanting, all underpinned by quality beats. The tracks flow nicely, making the EP a half hour listening experience, round the world, into the past & back to the future again, at the same time keeping up the interest in the music so it doesn't become background noise, and equally importantly keeping the head nodding.

There's obviously a lot of effort gone in to this EP, from the artwork through to the construction of the tracks and their pristine production. Track it down and buy it - you won't be disappointed, more info on his myspace page..."
