Angie Stone entered the music business as Angie B in the late seventies forming the first female rap group The Sequence, and signing to Sylvia Robinson's Sugarhill label alongside The Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and Funky Four Plus One, whose member Lil' Rodney (Stone) she went on to marry. However, it's her work with Clive Davis' J Records in the late nineties, and specifically 'Wish I Didn't Miss You' that Angie Stone is best known for. Built around a sample of the O'Jay's 1972 iconic hit 'Backstabbers', the track brought a retro soul sound into the R&B-donimated early 00s. This 45 also includes a Hex Hector house mix, but it's the OG you need this 7" for - a sublime soul anthem!
