Run by Banquet Records, New Slang is Kingston's leading indie night mixing up the best in bands we love playing live, and DJs playing the bands we love to dance to afterwards to the early hours. Often they're the same bands and thats why we love doing this so much..
From now on at New Slang we are offering a treat to anyone who has a birthday on the Thursday or the Friday of the week! We'll let YOU AND THREE OF YOUR MATES IN FOR FREE if you come before 11pm. All you need is proof that it's your birthday, and since you need ID to get in to the club anyway, that shouldn't be a problem!
Don't forget that New Slang has now changed venues! We've now moved to McCluskys which is on Riverside Walk right by Kingston Bridge. Here's a MAP to help you out. It's still the same people running the night with the same music policy and selection of live bands, however now we've got a better venue, with cheaper drinks (pints of Fosters for £2.10, pints of Strongbow for £2.10, Vodka mixer for £2.30, Tequila for £2...), a smaller feeling venue but one which actually has a capacity of pushing 1000 still, a more appropriate door staff team and a better PA for the night.
Remember its still us running the night! Sean playing what Jon wanted to, Jon playing The Cribs Noah And The Whale, Sean Haughton dancing/drinking, Punk Steve punking, Del hassling, Milly with her clipboard, Danny behind the sound desk, AD at the front door... Same night, same great times.
We've had some great bands play in the past such as Good Shoes, The Maccabees, Foals, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, The Futureheads, Los Campesinos!, Young Knives, The Weakerthans, The Rakes, Architecture In Helsinki, Friendly Fires, Crystal Castles, and Blood Red Shoes, and we're really looking forward to upcoming shows from the likes of Peter Doherty, Frank Turner and Wave Machines!
