Florence

Florence And The Machine - You Got The Love (The XX Remix)

Jon likes this remix so much he has chosen it amongst ridiculously strong competition this month. The XX remix turns this track into a beautiful soulful remix of a cover of a cover (confused yet?) that has really struck a chord with Jon this month. If you have yet to hear it click above and go have a listen or better yet, come into the shop and Jon will serenade you while Mike plays dubby xylophones (this may not happen).

Insane

A Skillz & Nick Thayer - Insane Bangers Vol.8

Poor Mike has been ill this month but there's nothing like an Insane Bangers release to cure you from those winter sniffles. The lethal combo of A-Skillz & Nick Thayer deliver another collection of beat heavy mash-ups that includes a re-working of Scooby Snacks! Some staff have been overheard hoping Mike also takes inspiration from the last track on the release 'Nothing Like A Bonus'.

Dave House

The Mountain Goats - The Life Of The World To Come

Dave has been living it up in the States this month and has returned with dreams of home cinema systems and the Phillies winning the World Series. Dave has gone for the 17th (yep 17th) album from The Mountain Goats creating their exceptional orchestral indie-folk that never seems to deteriorate. On his travels Dave also befriended a Mountain Goat named Cornelius, it wasn't a talking goat mind so it was a bit crap.

Tegan

Tegan And Sara - Sainthood

Jane had originally agreed with Dave's choice until this little beauty arrived last week. The Sixth studio album from the Canadian indie pop twins is packed full of quirky hits that worm their way into your head and repeat constantly (although this sounds unpleasant, its not). This album got Jane through website changeover madness last week!

Annie Mac

Annie Mac Presents

Aaron has chosen Radio 1 DJ and queen of the mash up Annie Mac with her 'presents' compilation packed full of some of the best dance cuts of the year. Definitely worth a look featuring Repeater friends Caspa and Rusko plus the likes of Dizzee, Miike Snow and a sick remix of The Streets 'Blinded By The Lights' from Nero who is taking over D.A.N.C.E in a few weeks. Still a bit disappointed this wasn't the return of water puddle hero Alex Mack.

Mumford

Mumford And Sons - Sigh No More

This album is so good that I don't think any of us would be against having it as our album of the month. Milly shotgunned it (obviously not literally) for her record of the month and a fine choice it is too. Heart rendering indie folk with banjos that works perfectly. This is anthem after anthem and the perfect soundtrack to the winter ahead. Also, if you buy it now you get to see Milly's face on the new website!

Sub Focus

Sub Focus - Sub Focus

Piers and Tom have been busy this month perfecting their role as Plump DJs lookalikes but Piers has still found the time to enjoy the highly anticipated Sub Focus record and he liked it, hence this is his record of the month. Absolute monster of a Drum and Bass release that will appeal to drum heads and all music fans alike. We were lucky enough to have him play at Repeater back in August and he certainly didn't disappoint.

OTDH

Our Time Down Here - Live, Love, Let Go

Tom goes for Banquet labels very own Our Time Down Here and their debut full length 'Live, Love, Let Go'. Mega fun anthemic energetic punk rock with buckets of passion, we had them rip up New Noise for us a few weeks ago where they also played some ace covers (HOMEGROWN!). Tom has denied only picking this so he doesn't get clattered playing football with drummer Chris on a monday night.

Girls

Girls - Album

Ollie is taking over the world as a Mailorder hero, Collision and New Slang Brighton DJ. He also found the time to enjoy the new Girls record after looking forward to it for a while. Stunning songwriting with Californian pop melodies and surf guitars that works a treat. Ollie is currently wearing a T-shirt with Girls on it but not sure if that's band related or just something he's into, you can find him in Bacchus ladies.

Converge

Converge - Axe To Fall

Sean's record of the month will break your face. Relentless modern metal from the technically incredible Converge, this album will blow you out to sea, drag you back to shore kicking and screaming and then chuck you back in for a laugh. Sean showed his more sensitive side the other day when he brought us all muffins, which was nice.

Tubelord

Tubelord - Our First American Friends

Kingston local boys Tubelord release their long awaited debut and it didn't let us down. Incredibly catchy indie pop with a heavy edge that is a sure contender for album of the year. New boy Harry has made the right choice with this one, Banquet love this band and we can't wait to see what they come up with next. Essential album.

JOFO

Johnny Foreigner - Grace And The Bigger Picture

Last but certainly not least is other newbie Adam who goes for the new Jofo record and who could blame him. Frantic, youthful noisepop that only Johnny Foreigner are capable of achieving. They are also the first band to get the lovely background treatment on our sparkly new website. Adam caught them at New Slang the other night and loved it so this second effort from our Brummie favourites is his pick. Good choice sir.
