![]() | The Swellers - Ups And Downsizing May has been an amazing month for punk shows at Banquet with some truly memorable shows. If cramming A Wilhelm Scream into first The Peel and then The Fighting Cocks wasn't enough, Set Your Goals decided to play a last minute show and brought down their rather famous buddies New Found Glory to play and wow. Four classics later and The Fighting Cocks was a sweat fest of smiles and high fives. The Swellers kicked off May in style by playing instore for us and then a great show at The Peel and their latest album 'Ups And Downsizing' gets JT's record of the month. Make sure you check out his new Banquet / skate themed Tumblr too! |

![]() | Jay Z - At Studio One Mike has had a busy May DJing his usual hot spots at D.A.N.C.E. , Braille and ermm The Science Museum...? The sun is out and the tunes are on with Jay Z's infamous 'Black album' getting the Reggae mash up treatment using classic Studio One reggae rhythms! Essential summer vibes on this one, Mike gives it the thumbs up (he also loves indies) ![]() |

![]() | Sauna Youth - Youth Dave has been stepping it up with Pacer this month playing lots of ace shows and recording (check out the vid below!). They have tunes up now so go have a listen NOW. Speaking of Steal spin off bands Dave has gone for the other half of The Steal's new band Sauna Youth and their debut 7" 'Youth' putting to bed the rumours of a horrific 4 day brawl when they broke up. Check it out, like Buzzcocks meets Shitty Limits! |

![]() | LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening Jane and Milly have been battling it out for this record with Milly conceding that Jane had picked it first. 'This Is Happening' is packed full of tunes like most LCD records so it's no surprise that this caused fighting between Banquet's lady folk. Jane celebrated winning by putting up a world cup wall chart much to the delight of the office. Milly drowned her sorrows at our second annual New Slam Skating event and decided to go the way of the track below. |

![]() | Illum Sphere - Titan EP The shop is a less beardy place now Aaron is only in one day a week. This month he goes for a rare solo release on Martyn's 3024 label from Illum Sphere with 'Titan'. Aaron thinks my Graze boxes are a waste of money but he's wrong and I am right. Decide for yourself if he is right about this tune! |

![]() | Not My Primeminister T-Shirt Milly declared that she didn't like much this month and if she couldn't have LCD she wanted NOTHING! She has changed the 'Record of The Month' landscape forever by going for a T-shirt and what a nice one it is too. Not only was May busy for Punk at Banquet but it was also the election. Politics and punk rock still go hand in hand and the popularity of this shirt was proof of that this month. As homage to the Fat Wreck "Not My President" shirts we printed a run of these "Not My Prime Minister" shirts with 25% of the sale price donated to the Electoral Reform Society. ![]() |

![]() | Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma Tronik goes for the much hyped new album from Flying Lotus on Warp Records. This second album on Warp Records from Flying Lotus is being dubbed a 'Space Opera' which isn't the usual straight up DnB madness that Tronik goes for but he is a man of many tastes, especially the ones on offer at Bar Estillo where you will find him most weeks. |

![]() | Deftones - Diamond Eyes Tom has been looking forward to this one for a while. The stunning new album from Deftones finally gets a release and is every bit as good as people say it is. Crushing riffs and soaring melodies in classic Deftones style, this is essential for anyone who likes heavy music. Tom has also been getting the Banquet squad ready for the Big Scary Monsters 5 a side tournament. We will let you know how we get on! |

![]() | The National - High Violet Ollie is off sunning himself at Primavera in Barcelona at the moment but the wonders of modern technology meant he could tweet us his album of the month! He goes for the exceptional new album from The National with more of the same moody and brooding beauties that featured on their previous work. Ollie will be hoping to find some beauties where he is right now but hopefully not of the moody variety... |

![]() | Foals - Total Life Forever Salty didn't hang about snapping up Foals before anyone could even blink this month. Hot off the back of their show for us at New Slang in April the new record was released in early May and totally lived up to the hype. Salty is a big fan of it, but not more than his beloved Gorillaz obviously! ![]() |

![]() | Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record Harry is gonna be our young superstar in the Bsm 5 a side and he has been doing intensive training for it including cycling pretty much everywhere. He goes for the excellent new release from the ultimate talent collective that is Broken Social Scene (he may have not had a say in this...) |

![]() | The Hold Steady - Heaven Is Whenever Ad goes for the new album from one of the best bands around - The Hold Steady. More storytelling good times from the Brooklyn boys who never release anything rubbish, ever! The World Cup Panini sticker war is almost over with Adam and Sean both needing less than 30 to complete the album. All of us involved are facing up to the grim reality that we have spent far too much money on stickers during May. Well worth it though... |

![]() | Holy Fuck - Latin New Slang Sean is another staff member on their hollybobs at the moment but Sean snapped up Holy Fuck as his album of the month quickly. The experimental noise pop Canadians release their second album 'Latin' out on Young Turks and Sean may very well be listening to it in Corsica right now. Or he will be hunting down local newsagents that sell World Cup Panini stickers... |
