Soft Pack

The Soft Pack The Soft Pack-

JT goes for the excellent self titled debut album from The Soft Pack as his album of February. The San Diego fours surfy garage rock with a pop edge has had all the staff tapping their toes to this one. The first track C'mon is a HIT and sung loud enough could propel Kingstonian to promotion this season... hopefully.

Bombing

Dr Rubberfunk - Hot Stone

Ex Banquet staff member Dr Rubberfunk drops a new album full of Hip Hop based soul/funk and sample heavy treats which has got the attention of Mike securing his February record of the month. 'Hot Stone' is full of laid back funky grooves getting Mike through the last of the winter months (hopefully).

Dave House

Alkaline Trio - This Addiction

Between practicing with new band Pacer and watching Guildford Heat Basketball team Dave found time to shotgun the new Alkaline Trio record as his album of the month. A return to form for the legendary punk rockers who come to play new Slang in May! Dave proudly told us he owns all the Alkaline Trio full lengths on LP... until he realised he didn't.

MCS

Motion City Soundtrack - My Dinosaur Life

Jane has been all about the uber catchy new album from Minneapolis synthy pop punkers Motion City Soundtrack this month. She is particularly fund of track nine which manages to name drop a Zelda game and sing "Motherfucker" ever so nicely in the chorus. Watch out for news on the band coming to Kingston in the near future!

Fourtet

Fabric - Elevator Music Vol 1

Fabric release volume 1 of their new Elevator Music series this month, a collation of all the variant strains of dubstep that Aaron has been well into dancing around the shop like a loon. You can catch him Djing like a loon too as part of Mercy meets Urban Nerds in Room 2 of D.A.N.C.E. in a few weeks...

Los Camp

Los Campesinos - Romance Is Boring

After picking singles the last few months Millifer finally gets an album of the month with the awesome third record from New Slangers Los Campesinos!. More indie pop hits in abundance from the Cardiff seven piece who play instore and at New Slang during March!

Fabric

FabricLive 50 - Autonomic

Piers has also got the Fabric bug this month going for the 50th edition of the popular FabricLive series. This edition features a few Piers faves with experimental Drum N Bass trio D-Bridge & Instra:mental on 'Autonomic', he bloody loves it.

Weezer

Crime In Stereo - I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone

Tom goes for the new album from Crime In Stereo. More experimental anthemic melodic genius on this 4th album which takes a few listens to get into but is well worth it! The band played The Fighting Cocks in February and blew us away!

Ollie

Yeasayer - Odd Blood

Ollie has had another busy month of mailorder but was quick to take the new Yeasayer record as his album of the month for February. This latest effort features a super poppy first half and a more experimental second half. Speaking of two halves Ollie reckons Arsenal are definitely on for the title this season, the one pound bet is on.

HC

Hot Chip - One Life Stand

Salty has been well into the new Hot Chip record this month. The follow up to 'Made In The Dark' includes latest hit and album title 'One Life Stand' and has been on heavy rotation in the shop. Dave and Tom realised that the singer is infact old 'Herbert' from Family Guy. Here is the proof...

WATO

We Are The Ocean - Cutting Our Teeth

Harry loves working at the instores as he is instantly swamped by his adoring girl fanbase. We Are The Ocean played a brilliant instore for us this month and Harry has gone for their stunning debut record for his album of the month. Screamy, passionate post-hardcore out on Hassle Records, check out the video below (of the band, not Harry being swamped).

ATL

All Time Low - MTV Unplugged

New Slang Adam has returned to the shop doing mailorder in the office midweek and it's good to have him back! He has gone straight for the acoustic album from yet more instore stars this month, All Time Low. They played a crazy acoustic show for us in February, check out the queue in this video!

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom - Signs & Wonders

New Slang Sean has gone for the debut album from Animal Kingdom, another band who played for us instore in a very busy February! The Punningman came down to check them out and also got a nice video of them playing that you can see below. ANIMAL KINGSTON!
